I agree with this for most part. For the players sake, wouldn't it be better just to use the Hud style boom boxes on the sidelines ? They still get the energy from the music but it doesn't affect the crowd
I have come to enjoy the 3rd down videos though. That bass beat is awesome. That is the one time that louder is better. If our fans or band won't make any noise then ___k it
The Cajundome music is also too loud.
It's funny. During the game, I like to watch the other team's reaction a lot more than our own for various reasons, and the following has been true for every home game. The other players get just as fired up by the music as our players do.
If you are going to play music on the PA system to fire up people, it should be to fire up the crowd, and only WHEN THE BAND IS NOT DOING IT. If the sideline boom boxes don't interfere with the band or the fan's game enjoyment, sure, they should have those.
The new PA guy is horrible also. His voice is just not fit to be a public address announcer.

The piped in music is at the request of the football coaches. Always has been. Under Hud, we started playing more of it because "that's how it's done at big-time schools" and that's continued (which, it is...I've seen the Miami band play pretty much just the fight song at a game). The band has no say in it.
