Marty had a better record vs Floyd than Marlin vs Hunter.

I'm very doubtful he'd have beaten a team he lost to by 20 points last year. So maybe we'd of gotten into the final with all hands on deck, but it's a jump to say he'd have beaten Hunter.
Couple of clarifications here. Loss to Georgia State was a 14 point margin, not 20. Marty Fletcher was 4 and 20 vs UNO at one point. Our percentage vs Georgia State is not that bad yet. Game after Panthers beat us, they lost to ULM so they had consistency issues. We will never know if we would have beaten them in the finals with a healthy team and a crowd favorable to us.

The Cajuns won a Sun Belt Conference Championship last year.

Marlin was rewarded for the performance, which is normal.

If Gant isn't sick and Stove isn't hurt and we win the tournament, we aren't having this discussion.
Only 25 wins count plus with an SOS of 206 last year it's not a surprise we went 0-2 in postseason

Fake News. They won 27 regular season games and went 1 and 2 in post season.

Getting a new contract for those accomplishments is slightly north of normal.
Seems to me you extend the contract cause you're scared somebody else might want your coach. I am not a Marlin basher, but I can't imagine that there was a threat of another school coming after him.

So the criteria for an extension or raise for a coach is solely whether some other college may want you and hire you away?

Supply and demand you could have kept his salary the same what would he have done gone back to Sam Houston?

    That begs my question.

Yes. If he is doing an exceptional job, and you are afraid he will be recruited away, or as a reward for doing a consistently exceptional job, or if the team is making strong and consistent progress. Again, I am not a Marlin basher, can't remember posting anything on him, but I would genuinely like to hear anybody give reasons why he is doing an exceptional job or that his teams have shown strong and consistent progress.

Not sure why you are throwing gender into a subject which is not gender related.

Did they play and win 27 games last year?

I'm really confused. First you say that the possibility of the coach being lured away is the sole reason to give an extension or raise, then provide a couple of other reason to do so. Which one is it?

How about if the AD feels that he can't find a better coach at this time for the same money and terms?

The joke in the belt is Texas state is only good in women's sports it holds true

As far as 27 games NCAA does not recognize non D1 games do we count preseason scrimmages as wins ....No we won 25 NCAA recognized games
