Marlin is overpaid and I approve of the job he is doing.

I'm just trying to understand how all of this keeps translating to extension after extension.
Barely over .500? Dude, he’s .716 all time. And that’s after inheriting a team that lost to effing NAIA Texas College.

This reminds me so much of Jesse Evans’s run. The team kept getting better and better while the fan base kept hating him more and more.

You keep ____ting on him while all the experts in the basketball world keep giving him awards. Somebody is laughably wrong here. No offense, but my (and apparently Brian Maggard’s) bet is that you are the wrong one.

Be careful about these awards. I know of some local coaches that got together to have another coach named as coach of the year so that his school would keep that coach.

I always say this. I’ll say it again. The #1 stated goal of the RCAF is to supplement coaching salaries. This is the strategy our athletic department is using to improve our programs. As a result we will almost always have the highest paid coaches in the Sun Belt.

So if that’s the argument you want to use Broadhead, Napier, and Robe are also fleecing the university because they all get beaten regularly by lower paid coaches.

That's kinda the point of paying coaches higher salaries you want a better ROI

We are talking about a body of work Hunter has more tournament appearances tournament wins and is 12-1 against Marlin. Coaches salaries should be based on such and not just because we can pay them more.

Robe has proven his worth by postseason success Napier is a young up and coming coach. Marlin is in the twilight of his coaching career with 8 years of mediocre - moderate success salary should reflect that.

Do a simple search. There is nothing that verifies he is 70+%. Nothing. Better yet, I'll add it for you. Even if it was, I wouldn't give a ____ what his all time record is since it matters NONE here. But, to be clear, prior to last year his record here was 55%. That includes conference records in a fairly modest league to say the least.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Marlin

In the Southland, he's done awesome. He's won one regular season title which I am a fan of and he's gotten to 1 NCAA tournament. He was given a 5 year extension in 2015 after a 4th place finish in conference. Like I said, I don't necessarily hate Marlin but 9 years worth of extensions and being paid at the top of the conference for 1 NCAA tournament and 1 conference title?

Your argument stems from last year's awards and they are justifiable because last year was a great team but my comments go 4-5 years back when our player retention levels are amongst the lowest I've seen and we are void of any major success and we can't beat anybody inside the top 200.
