What if a guy is from here but his wife's parents live in Houston and they go to Houston for Thanksgiving? You speak like you have all the data to back up that we would have a sellout by putting homecoming game on Thanksgiving day because LSU and Texas A&M pack over 100,000 in Kyle Field on Thanksgiving night.

    Blank argument.

The school already moves games around for umpteen reasons, and the reasons people travel are just as varied.

I don't know anyone who predicted sellout, certainly not me.

I'm just spit balling with the knowledge that the everyday factors that affect other schools attendance in a positive or negative way, would effect UL as well.

You are predicting a sellout because LSU and Texas A&M put 102,000 in Kyle Field on Thanksgiving night, which at the time was just shy of their highest attended game of that year.

We just had a homecoming game on a Saturday with absolutely beautiful conditions...and only 18,000 showed up. Give them the excuse of it being Thanksgiving Day and more people will stay home.

But keeping living in fantasy world over there Turbine. Keep thinking we have the fanbase of LSU and Texas A&M that will go to a football game on Thanksgiving Day. Those people prioritize football over anything else. We have a fan base that prioritizes other things over football.

25% of that fan base would be an absolute home run.

We don't have 25% of that fan base on an October Saturday. It'll be less than 10% of that fan base in Turbine's pipe dream.

    I compared TAMU to TAMU.

I have no idea what constitutes a TAMU sold out game.

I simply compared their very best attended game to their Thanksgiving attended game and the Thanksgiving result was 96% of their best attended game and 101% of their average attendance.

An actual translatable improvement, not Baldwin numbers like you claim.

So why are you using them to validate your opinion that UL should play homecoming on Thanksgiving Day?

You are trying to use their attendance to show that anyone can play on Thanksgiving Day and it won't affect attendance because, look it didn't affect A&M's attendance.

And when they rotate to Baton Rouge LSU refuses to play on thanksgiving day..they play It on Saturday

In determining whether the move is a good one or not, it matters not if the average fan base is 5,000 for one school or 500,000 for another.

The principles and factors of increasing attendance apply to both.

Minus the ticket redemption, the factors that make TAMU's Thanksgiving game their average, will serve to increase UL's average attendance as well.

Lots of family in town going stir crazy. Peer pressure attendance through the roof.

    Everybody is off.

Gives the team 2 extra days to prepare for the SBC Championship game.

It becomes a destination event, not just another game.

    Historical tradition at Louisiana.

Thanks, that's another reason UL should play on Thanksgiving Day.

Im using their percentages as an analog telemetry data point.

Their above average experience is better than "didn't affect."

People are looking for things to do on Thanksgiving day. It's why Disney loves releasing movies on that day..

all the Cajun alumni that go to tiger stadium will definitely be at family dinner on Thursday to make sure they get the yard pass for that Saturday to go to BR. Our problem isn’t timing, we don’t have enough fans...and Certainly don’t have enough to try something like that. We severely lack numbers.

    "we don't have enough fans"

That's the whole point behind increasing access, options and exposure.

Would work really well this year too with saints playing the falcons on thanksgiving day. Would need crowd control. Would also help our rivalry with ULM that everyone yearns for. The battle of the “UL’s” has a nice ring to it.

There is a reason the Falcons marked their Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Saints as a highlight of the season.

No reason to start the game after 8pm and go head to head with a local interest.

With everyone off for the day, the game can start anytime.
