This is his best performance by far as a Ragin Cajun. He had been inconsistent up to this point, even if you remove the Alabama game. Of course no one should expect him to throw 4 or 5 TDs every week. He faces two of the best CB's in the conference this week and defenses. As long as he gets the ball to his play makers, the offense will be productive.
One thing I can say is the play calling under Napier is not boneheaded like under Hud. I mean Huds first year was amazing, gutsy play calling it just went down hill from there. Or maybe our wad Blaine checking out of the run and passing?
He is our best shot at some success this season! He’s a gamer and I am glad to have him!!! I had a former Cajun QB tell me “ This team wants to play for Nunez”!!!
Gotta get behind this kid!!!
He is not perfect, he missed a wide open receiver, think it was Gossett, right before showing amazing touch on the first TD pass to Bam. What I liked is that he didn't let it get him down and made that great throw. He is showing a fight that I didn't see in him last season, and I like it.
He’s certainly established himself as the #1 guy. He’ll miss throws from time to time and make the wrong read on a RPO, but he’s efficient. 5 touchdowns is no fluke. The funny thing was I didn’t realize he was having such a good game until I looked at the live stats in the 3rd. He doesn’t really wow you like some QBs. I saw 5 tds and it was like, “when did that happen? Wait, he does have 5, doesn’t he?”
i wish he would keep it from time to time on the "zone-read" he could really bust off a long run and it will help to keep defense a little more honest
According to an article I saw this morning, he is 25th in the nation in completion percentage. Wonder where he stands in the QB efficiency ratings. Also, one of his TD's to Jackson made one of the ESPN Sports Center Top 10 list. Congratulations to both on that honor. I also wonder if he has a chance to be the SBC offensive player of the week.
Though I agree he is "our best shot at some success this season", and I'm not a fan of the two QB system, this team has shown it wants to play, period. Very impressive and disciplined. The team shows just as much effort and dedication when Lewis is in there as Nunez, however, it is always difficult for the offense to have to switch between QB's because of the rhythm of the game, the cadence, and voice inflection of the QB calling plays.
Gotta get behind this team!!!
