UL falls in line with the Pels. I split season tickets with my brother not out of value, but out of loyalty. The product does not even remotely justify the price. If I want to watch DB’s who can’t cover a WR while trying there hardest, I can pay $8 and watch Jesuit vs Brother Martin. For the product UL is delivering it is outrageously expensive.
People in Lafayette have eyes. They see what has been invested by the University and its boosters to build some top notch facilities. To date the caliber of athletes brought in do not justify the investment. When we get better players the fans pay to watch.
We are part way there. Our offense is better than the great majority of G5 programs now. Long way to go on defense of course. I suspect many of our well thought of commitments are on that side of ball. I can see us seriously competing for conference titles in 2020.

Agreed, but UL never made those students feel that way. Loyalty is not going to fill a stadium.
Uno and Tulane have the same problem here in Nola. I don’t even know if Tulane played this week. There is zero coverage. The only time Tulane got mentioned in the past few weeks is when the LSU transfer QB was inserted into the starting lineup. What helps the area economy more, UNO, Tulane or LSU? UNO/Tulane hands down, but that football team has a hold on people.
You are going about this the wrong way. It is not about loyalty. College Football is a business. When UL becomes a G5 power, local people will come because they will rather see UL locally than drive 50 miles to watch LSU pummel McNeese. Until that time attendance will be disappointing.

In almost every instance, I agree. I would point out that the NOLA market has plenty of competition. Lafayette has virtually none, athletically.

I maintain, homecoming is a loyalty issue. Continued support, showing up every home game, following the team, RCAF membership, etc is not, but HC should garner a certain bit of obligation.

Very few have the same passion for Cajun athletics that you do. Very few ever will. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to change this fact of life.

45k and 50k people had the same “passion” when we were winning. Year in and year out, baseball is top 20 in the country in attendance.

The truth is, people are fickle bandwagon jumpers. Especially in Lafayette.

But hey...don’t forget to “Shop Local” in a few months when that campaign takes off again by every Lafayette owned business...

The product on the field has NEVER been the issue for me. I would go to every game played, including soccer, volleyball and all other sports, if I could. But when I became unemployed 6 years ago, I had a decision to make. I chose to continue my relationship with softball. I hope to expand my support of my university once I've had my hernia surgery. We'll see.

You attacked "Acadiana" for the greater good of "Lafayette" ?

I think the conversation should be "Louisiana."

Have you ever been by the oak tree? That's exactly what it is. Food drinks and music all in a 100 ft radius for like 4 hours before the game.
This is what I am talking about, have the stage with live music, and then the University set up tents with beer stands, and food vendors all in a neat little square, where you can bring your chair. It could be fun could have Ragin Cajun tailgaters do a cook off or whatever, but make it interesting! like the picture below. Want more of a festival type atmosphere, right now it is janky. Baseball stadium idea was a great idea.

Sure, we've had crowds that size for a New Orleans Bowl, and maybe for the Southern games, but we've never averaged that size crowd. We'll average no more than 25K even when we're winning, and less than that if there's bad weather for a game or two. This is true of 95% of all G5 programs. Wishing we were a big time P5 program doesn't make it so.

Yeah.... So this is basically what was planned for the area where the Cox building sits Only problem is it can't be torn down until baseball gets their locker room replaced . Or so I've been told

It would definitely add to the game day experience and aesthetics of the complex over all
