If you couldn’t see this coming you are blind, festival Acadian, cattle festival, gumbo cookoff in New Iberia, LSU playing Georgia, hunting season around the corner...not everyone’s life revolves around Cajun athletics. Not everyone’s life revolves around athletics in general. Nice weather and a lot of other things going on in the area.

I want this as well. I just don't think walking around nut-punching is going to make it happen. I don't think the Acadiana masses even know what you're talking about. They don't view a football game as the pinnacle of investment in Acadian culture. They don't see it as a loyalty thing. I know we bash people for heading to LSU on game day... but all football programs that fill stadiums aren't getting there on a loyalty platform. They are giving their followers something besides their own personal life to rally around. And sports output must be bigger than those people's lives to get them into stadiums in the numbers you're thinking about.

You cannot keep having emotional outreach... get some fan reaction... and lay eggs. UL football has laid eggs. Way too often. Get over this ridiculous loyalty expectation. See it for what it is. Or, keep getting disappointed. I don't often, in my current life, give other people... especially those I don't even know... the power to disappoint me.

Guys like Damon Mason gave his soul to this football program and to me as a fan, the LEAST I could do was show up to tip my hat.

Guys like Scott Dohman spilled his guts for our baseball program and is a big reason why we are where we are today. The LEAST I could do was show up to stand and applaud. To say thanks.

We have a real admin making REAL moves. We have a real football coach, with a real staff, making REAL changes. The LEAST we could do, is show the ___k up.

If LSU is even a thought in your mind when deciding on attending Cajun sporting events, you're not a Cajun supporter. Stop lying to yourself.
I agree with all of this

Our current admin and coaching staff is legit. We need to support them and can't blame them for past failures

3 of the 4 professors honored last night didn't even bother to show up for their recognition.

You have to remember it's not cheap to go to a Cajuns Game for a walk up fan. 4 tickets to the next home game on ticketmaster will run you $129.55 for general admission. You throw in concessions for a family and you can easily be looking at $170-180 evening. And while we have certainly made some strides of improvement to the game day experience, I don't think UL has reached the game day experience yet to justify those prices. I say this as a football season ticket/tailgate spot holder. They need to do a better job of advertising their family ticket packages and/or offer lower ticket prices to youth groups/churches/schools/charitable organizations and pack Cajun Field. Offer walk up tickets of $5-7 and make money off of people spending money on concessions.

With the Cajuns care program, there are free ticket to be had. They have to do a better job advertising how people can get their hands on them. I'd bet a lot of money that they're mostly going unused.
I'd also like to see some numbers on how many were sold. I bought 10 and thought this was a great way to get new fans and season ticket sales #s up.

The nut punching is a product of constantly having to defend our base around this state. I’m sure you’ve run into it as well. It’s like having a behavior issue child and having to defend him publicly, but discipline at home.

It is unfathomable that a community of exiles can’t rally around a football program. In fact, all a football program is at its core, is tribalism. I agree that this program has wasted way too many opportunities, and I’ll even except that people are waiting to see what Napier and Maggard will deliver, but HC is a different situation. It is quite literally, an event to celebrate the impact of the University and it’s atheltic programs on the lives of its alumni.

If our fanbase doesn’t understand what this institution means to Lafayette and Acadiana, then they severely need to be educated, starting with the mush minds currently enrolled at UL.

, I am so sick of this “expensive” BS. Sir, you can’t take a family of 4 to the movie theatres anymore for $100. In fact, what the hell can you do with a family of 4 for 4-5 hours for $100?

Everything is a value proposition. I have Saints season tickets because the $1200 for 8 games seems reasonable. The fact that I can turn a profit on individual games is a bonus. I do not have Pels tickets because the price seems out of line for the product and I can get tickets for dirt cheep anytime I want them.
UL falls in line with the Pels. I split season tickets with my brother not out of value, but out of loyalty. The product does not even remotely justify the price. If I want to watch DB’s who can’t cover a WR while trying there hardest, I can pay $8 and watch Jesuit vs Brother Martin. For the product UL is delivering it is outrageously expensive.
People in Lafayette have eyes. They see what has been invested by the University and its boosters to build some top notch facilities. To date the caliber of athletes brought in do not justify the investment. When we get better players the fans pay to watch.

Yes, I had it done in Lafayette this past week. The bandage contacts will be taken out tomorrow. Everything should clear up after that hopefully

The Pelicans organization didn’t educate me. The Pelicans organization isn’t a stalwart in the community, doesn’t directly impact (proportionally) the local economy, and most people don’t associate cultural pride with the Pelicans. I agree with your athlete comments, and I’ve said similar. This particular ___k up should be seen through the lense of a Homecoming Game. It’s a little more than football.
