We should be in C-USA West. I don't care even if it's a lateral move. Most of the Cajuns fans live in the region where these schools are located, such as Houston, N. Louisiana, Dallas and Southern Mississippi.

No one is going to travel to Troy or Mobile. We'll have more fans that actually live in Lafayette that attended LA Tech, Rice or S. Mississippi. Very few people that graduated from Troy, S. Alabama or Texas St. actually live in the Acadiana area or would be willing to attend games at Cajun Field

I agree this would be a good situation. However what is and what should be are 2 different things. I live in the real world, not a wishful one. I will say the Administration is well aware that we need to improve our conference situation and are doing all they can to take advantage of any opportunity which may arise. Top priority there is an improved football program. We may not see real progress there for a couple of years but foundation is being laid now.

I realize I am going to likely be disappointed. Not surprised however. I don't think people realize yet how quickly interest in sports is dropping unless a big national game is pending. There is one of those less than 60 miles away starting in less than an hour. Add to that it is on TV which makes the casual fan who has little interest outside of the big boys less likely to come to a home game. This goes beyond our team. It does show that we have to win "BIG" before support comes back.

That Mike, and for the average, casual fan, UL has made it difficult to attend,difficult to enjoy, and has may be not done enough to entice fans who are not a part of RCAF...$10 to park, no GA tailgating (no tailgating unless RCAF?) "Expensive" concessions, lousy in game experience, too many family friendly events, mostly geared to toddlers through 5th grade, pay for this and that, a non-active or engaging band, all of this "stuff" before the game even starts...honestly, who can blame the one or two game fan, regardless if they're an alum or not, for not going? As a student in the 70s, it was easy. Drive, park, ID shown, sit with friends, crack the seal on some southern comfort and enjoy game, your date, have fun..as an alum in the 80s and 90s..get supplies for tailgate, tailgate, drink beer, have fun with kids, hit stadium, yell like he'll, have fun, enjoy game, band etc..
By trying to make game day fun family time, I think the University has sucked all the fun and simplicity out of it.

In some ways, we have priced some folks out of the support group. I was always critical of folks who tailgated but did not attend the game. Tailgating is one aspect that definitely has priced some folks out and that does impact atmosphere.

No surprise as all the friends of your son grew up in New Orleans. LSU is only state team covered there so it is natural those folks still follow the Tigers regardless of where they are at now.
