TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior Jack Tolson notched his first top 25 finish of the season as the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns golf team finished in eight at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a three round score of 47-over par (899) at the par-71, 7,172-yard Inverness Club.

Tennessee was the wire-to-wire champion with an overall score of 12-over par (864). Virginia's Thomas Walsh claimed the individual title with a 54-hole score of 8-under (205) after carding a tournament low round of 6-under (65) in the final round.

Sliman's Thoughts

"Very proud and impressed with Jack's play and determination this week. This was an extremely difficult golf course, one that has hosted many major championships and will host more in the near future. The course played with similar conditions of a USGA event and Jack played with a ton of patience, particularly not have his best stuff. He learned a lot and hopefully this can instill more confidence in him as the fall continues.

"Proud of the grit we saw from both Bjorn and Hudson finishing strong and playing their last six holes of the final round under par.

"We are a better team than we have shown thus far in our first three events. We are a very talented group that has not yet put it together. We look forward to coming home and putting in the time and hard work that we need to in order to prepare for our next event."

Tolson Finishes in Top 20

Tolson placed in a tie for 17th at the Inverness Intercollegiate with a 54-hole score of 8-over (221). The Lafayette native notched a round of even par in the opening round of the tournament with just one bogey on his card. Tolson then bounced back from a tough second round that was disrupted by heavy rains to card a 74 (+3) including an eagle on hole 13 to finish in the top 25 for the sixth time in his career.
