This is what keeps my faith in this staff for now regardless of my disappointment. Coach Napier is owning the loss, no throwing coaches or players under the bus. While things are certain to go against us this season, as long as he owns this team I can find something to hold on to tomorrow.

In 2007, Saban's first year, Alabama went 6-6 and lost to ULM. Two years later, Alabama won the National Championship. In Napier's first year, he inherited a 65 scholarship class, poor previous years of recruiting, a team in need of discipline and direction, a team that had not had a winning record for 3 straight years, and a team in need of cULture development. This team will be inspired by the words of their head coach and learn to respond to adversity. The wins will come.

Agree with that statement in general However there is a cold reality we must face. Everyone can do their job better and the team may come together more. They may prepare as well as possible. That may still not yield the results we would like. Reason is simply they may not be good enough no matter how focused they are at all the things Coach brought up in that video. That is this year. Long term things will improve somewhat due to what VObserver said. It is not that men will want to play here. It is that youngsters will want to play here so they can be helped to become men.

Losing this season might ultimately be the best thing that ever happened to our football program. The longer we keep Billy Napier here, I believe, the more rooted his system will become. A complete cleaning out and building from nothing, culturally speaking, is what we’ve needed for a long time.

While Hud had success, he merely added band aids to decade old wounds. Napier is going to perform open heart surgery on this place.

I remember someone saying before the season started that the record this season was not a concern as this staff was going to build this program the correct way so as it would be successful for the long term. Of course it is easy to say that in July. When you walk out disappointed like last Saturday you realize how painful the process may be.

Great points, CM! I knew back in the summer (& earlier) that this season would likely not yield a large number of wins. Yet l was still very disappointed Saturday night. After sleeping on it for a couple of nights, l came back to my original thoughts - that this is a multi-year project to rebuild (or actually "build") a quality program. I like many of the things l am seeing with Napier's approach. Sometimes it is hard to be patient, especially when we had a small taste of success for a couple years, followed by some very disappointing ones, under the previous coach. Everyone is anxious to see Napier succeed. Patience is a virtue not easily practiced.

,,,,,,,I really feel that the losses and the resulting scores are do to about 3 or 4 major coverages screw ups and our not making or stopping 3rd or 4th down and short/long situations ( think the 2nd and one against Msu)——any stat guru would be able to get that info???
