Thread: Why didn’t you go to LA Football game on Sat?

The last three years and the last three games have historically shown that the Ragin Cajuns football team produces a poor product. If I want to waste money, there are better options. When we see a team that has competitive games versus P5 schools and win more conference games, we might show up. If I want to spend my hard earned money on a Southland Conference football team, there are pretty good ones in Lake Charles and Thibodeaux. Thank God, they were not on this years schedule, we would have lost to those FCS teams. When UL can at least compete with P5 teams and put together a few wins in the worst college football conference in the FBS, the fans will be back.

In Texas, 4 hours away. Sadly, I would have to get my fill of Cajun hometown food and liquor to make the trip worth it. Coming for homecoming and maybe one more game.

The students were exiled from the 50-yard-line Red Zone to make a current buck.

This will cause a 100-fold loss in future bucks.

I saw a ton of fans for UCF vs FAU. Just saying be great or be late. We all recall UCF from American South Conference or early SBC merger. Didn’t have a football team, and a crap baseball park.

    Lame 2u doesn't make untrue.

I have video I took walking in the mud, behind the bench, with students hanging over the rail during losing seasons.

Separating students from the action is the most expensive thing schools have ever done. (not just UL) They just won't know it for decades to come.

Half of the problem is that we are quite literally pushing away the casual fan.

There are nearly 70 tailgate spots that didn’t get purchased this year. Pretty sure this even includes a ton of RV spots. There are also tons of empty parking spots in the RCAF parking lot. It has become so unbelievably expensive to participate that people are saying eff it and not showing up. That’s 70 spots that people would almost certainly buy if they were affordable. But nope, let’s keep charging $700 for them.

They are clearly signaling to the community that if you aren’t willing to hand over hundreds or thousands of dollars to the RCAF every year you aren’t welcome here. Instead you can pay $10, park in the mud, and walk a half mile to the stadium. It is a really horrible way to treat your fan base.

And all this comes while families are still struggling to recover from the recession.

We used to have a ton of tailgaters at our spot around Bustle’s last years. It was always really easy for them to get there. They showed up early, parked close to the spot, and enjoyed the day. Once they closed off Cajun Basin to only RCAF members about half of them immediately stopped coming.

But boy I bet those huge RCAF numbers will look great for Jim Harris when he jumps to another school.

I went and wish I could wipe from memory the play of both teams I witnessed in the field.

We are at a minimum 2 years away from success.

And that’s if Napier can find a single quarterback that is capable.

I have lived in Lafayette for 38 years and have only been to ONE fleur de leis game...that was a few years ago when TECH put their usual butt whipping on the chili peppers...I have never been nor will I ever be a usl fan...they cheat to get to bowl games then refuse to accept the penalties...why would I pay hard earned $$$ to see a bunch of thugs from from outside louisiana get beat by such teams as COASTAL Carolina...in baseball your coach takes funny $$$ to build a palace then can't even win a game in the conference tournament all the while ruining young pitchers arms for his own self professed glory...you need to go play in the Southland Conference and stop embarrassing the state by putting our good states name on your uniform...

Students don't show up because of cULture. It won't change until the cULture changes.
