Down by 16 early in the second half, UL rallied to make it close in the fourth quarter before Coastal Carolina held on to win 30-28 in the Sun Belt Conference opener for both teams on Saturday night at Cajun Field.

Backup quarterback Bryce Carpenter replaced injured starter Kilton Anderson and threw a 29-yard trick play pass to Isaiah Anderson for a touchdown that helped put Coastal up 30-21 with just more than nine minutes to go.
