I think several people here have said it succinctly...Napier is here to build a program, not take our current roster and turn it in to a winner. When we upgrade the talent level of the team we will see more wins and a more “professional” outfit. It’s that simple.
I expected 5 wins. I'm not disappointed just because we lost the game. I'm more disappointed in what we saw. You remember when we hired Napier and we heard we were going to see a revamped offense and we were glad that we finally had a coach who could coach offense? What we saw Saturday was the same thing we were seeing last year with meathead. We saw some semblances of more effective offensive playcalling and scheming over the last couple of weeks and all of a sudden, we don't know how to operate our passing game in the middle of the field?

Jumping up and down and players bobbing their head doesn’t bother me...what does is when you have coaches (possibly grad assistants?) having CHOREOGRAPHED dances with 8+ players at the end of the 3rd quarter...but hey...we’ve got so much upperclassmen talent that these young guys don’t need to be focused on the game and involved in hearing coaches strategies...I mean they won’t see the field for years b/c we’re stacked in talent

At the QB Club on Friday Coach Napier said ithere corners were probably the weakest part of the defense. That is probably why we attacked them on the sidelines so much. Different opponent, different gameplan. We may attack middle more if linebackers are weak in future games.

But Mike, you can attack corners by going downfield and still working the middle of the field. Also, why throw jumpballs to Bradley? Even though he may have a slight height advantage over one of their backs, it doesn't mean its a good idea and he's a pretty decent route runner. We attacked MS State's backs by going post routes and deep crossing routes and they were effective. Can't imagine how they can't work against CCU.

And did you think that in the previous 2? No, so one game and the guy is done? Why is everyone so knee jerk reaction? How do you know the players didn’t freak out and revert to their old ways after getting down? Give the guy some time to do his job.

Actually yes, I did see some things in both games previous to this week. After the Grambling game Napier said they made too many mistakes and the margin for error would be much smaller going forward. That Grambling team is bad, they are not even in the HBC Top 25.

Again I and others said it after the Mississippi State game. I watched a team that lacked discipline and didn't execute or make plays when the opportunity availed itself in the game. I could have lived with the score had I saw both from this team, but I didn't.

There is no massive knee jerk reaction here by supporters. There are a few like yourself that clearly don't see we are not good and the things we were told by Coach Napier about this staff and current team are not happening on the football field. We are not disciplined and they don't look coached up from the previous staff last season.

Time? Time is all we have right now because I sure don't have much hope of winning many more games, if any the rest of the season. What I'm looking for is improvement in all phases the rest of the season. I realize now this will be a 3 year rebuild at least and it will require the fan base to sit through some ugly football at times. I want to see if this staff will live up to their resumes and coach the athletes up, thus far I have not seen it.

Coaching "resumes" can be misleading depending on the circumstances they were built on. As the saying goes, its more about the Jims & the Joes than the Xs & Os. Saban is unlikely to win more than 2 games (additional) than Hud with the current UL roster. Bustle left Hud a better roster and he was able to tap into his Mississippi "connections" for his first couple recruiting classes. Once those were gone, the chickens came home to roost. The bottom line for Nap is to sign recruits with multiple P5 offers rather than beating out McNeese, Nichols, Southern & ULM for players. More recruiting classes with "diamonds in the rough", "high character" & "hard worker" recruits will get another coach fired.

Let me guess im a Hud lovin McNeese humper huh? I was barely even born when we had the McNeese rivalry. Not sure how many times i have to say we aren’t good for you to comprehend it. Just because a bunch of you set your expectations too high for a first year coach trying to turn around a program isn’t “people like me”’s problem. Let the man do his job, he isn’t going anywhere for a while. Try not being so miserable all the time, you might get to actually enjoy some things while on earth. Where did you coach football by the way? Why did you give it up? Seems like with your ties here you would have been destined to be our coaching savior. WE ARE 3 games in FFS

I didn't say anything about people like you being part of the problem. But are you not the one proclaiming everyone complaining is over reacting? There is room here for both opinions, but when you start lecturing everyone to stop this knee jerk reaction you can expect some fire back at you. If you are enjoying yourself right now, then by all means go do your Rooster Dance and drink. No one is jumping off the bandwagon here, this is our fan board and I'm venting like many others. If you don't like it, don't read it. Where did I coach? At Pecan Island University, the same place you earned your diploma!

Again why do you assume everyone who disagrees with you yearns for McNeese and is part of Krewe de Chew? Where did they touch you? Or did they just not include you? What are you a liberal? You go way overboard on every spectrum. Nobody says anything about enjoying themself. You spent years degrading these players brought in (after you spent years interviewing them). You spent the last 2 season telling everyone how terrible our talent level is. Now we get a new coach who didn’t even have a full recruiting cycle, isn’t performing up to the “almighty bj’s” standards with those some players you talked ___ on and you are surprised? 3 games in..let the man do his job. If we don’t get better as the season goes there may because for concern but at this point he has beaten an FCS, lost to an SEC and list by 2 to a conference team who is 3-1. Yet you somehow have turned negative on the guy already. Again, try not being so miserable all the time. You think
You are better than people from pecan island or something?

This may be the only useful post you have ever made on this site.
