LA Supreme Court To Hear Vermilion Election Case

The Louisiana Supreme Court will hear the appeal on a decision regarding E.J. Broussard's candidacy for the District B seat on the Abbeville City Council.

In 2005, Broussard was convicted of aiding and abetting illegal gambling.

This will be the third attempt by his opponent, Francis Touchet, to disqualify his opponent. The election is set for March 27th.

The final round between Abbeville’s District B Councilman Francis Touchet and Ernal “EJ” Broussard is set for March 2, at 1:30 p.m.

The location: At the State Supreme Court Building in New Orleans.Touchet won the first round in district court.

Broussard came right back the next week and won the second round in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

The State Supreme Court informed the attorneys of both parties that it is willing to hear the case between Francis Touchet and Ernal “EJ” Broussard.

Touchet is happy that the State Supreme Court will hear the case.
