Nunez does some things well in the passing game, throwing crossing patterns, digs, slants and out routes well. He doesn't throw the fly, post or corner routes well. Which means we have problems stretching the field on defenses. Lewis is less accurate and he doesn't have a great arm for the deep routes either. Stats don't tell that story, but the video does.
Arm strength is the reason he was there for Hud to find him. Don't care. The guy has the heart of a lion, and he is perfect for this offense in a rebuild/transition year. Andre Nunez was destined to be the QB for the University of Louisiana in 2018.
I've made my thoughts on Levi known. Could be an all-conference DB, but will waste his talent on the bench. If we get the QB from HS, he gets the keys day 1.
I care because against good defenses, just like last season our offense will have a hard time running the ball. I agree that he has heart and that he can function in Coach Napier's offense. He will have to do because we have no other choice, but we have no D1 QB on this roster right now. The numbers will be fine as long as we can run the football, play good special teams and defense.
Are you saying he can hit deep throws to receivers in stride? I think he can function in the SBC and manage Coach Napier's offense. And yes, I'm saying he is not a D1 QB because he doesn't have a strong arm and he was a backup QB in JC with no offers. He walked on here at UL and earned his playing time against Levy Lewis who is not a D1 QB either.
Do you have an argument other than your last statement?
On both throws, one to Malone and the other to Bradley the receivers had at least 5 yards on the defensive backs before they had to slow down and wait for the ball. He had enough time to make each throw with full arm motion. Sorry, go back and look at the game on replay. He had several similar opportunities against Grambling were receivers had to wait on the ball. I think what he will show this weekend is he can make accurate throws within 15, 20, 30 yards of the line of scimmage and function in the SBC. If that gets us to a bowl, I'm happy. But he is not a D1 QB and neither is Lewis.
