Louisiana Football returns to the field Saturday to take on_No. 16 Mississippi State, in Starkville, Mississippi, on Saturday, Sept. 15, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2. After a bye week off and_following the_49-17 season-opening win over Grambling, the Ragin' Cajuns match up against the Bulldogs_for the first time since 1987.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE: Louisiana and Mississippi State have only played each other three times in either program's history, with the last meeting being on Sept. 5, 1987. Louisiana has yet to defeat Mississippi State on the gridiron, but that could change this weekend as a win for Louisiana would not only be the first-ever against Mississippi State, but the school's first win against a current member of the Southeastern Conference (Texas A&M was not a member of the SEC when Louisiana beat them in 1996, Louisiana's lone win against a ranked opponent).
