Yeah, but you probably suspected it for a long time. We have our own swamp here in Louisiana.

There is even one individual that sits on our RCAF board who asked TJoe to “drop the name thing” because it was causing unrest amongst his buddies in BR.
    Really really sad

With only 20% state subsidy, the university is just about funding itself. Get the State to donate all properties to UL in exchange for no longer funding. UL is then free to set it's own tuition and entrance standards. Once we are Carnegie R1 in 2020, we will have more clout to seek our own destiny.

Forgot to mention this would really free UL up to purchase the Lourdes property and start a medical school.

Except without state funds or backing of bonds, not sure how this would be done. Even if the funds could be found to buy the property, starting a medical shool is VERY expensive.

Smart people learn from their mistakes. He was absolutely going the wrong way five years ago with the hyphens, Farmer, SBC exit fees. Maybe he exempted UL not sure about that.

You contract with a private medical school, allow that partnership to basically become a part of the schools campus. My son attends the Carolina campus, here's the link to the med school partnership at Auburn... http://www.vcom.edu/auburn

That is what ULM is doing... If the university itself is not handing out degrees, it's just a renting out space, and that is pointless.

I won’t out him, but there is a poster here that believes this is exactly what is going to happen. I’d support the move, but only if a medical school is included.

I know what the current law says. The first time we changed the name to University of Louisiana that law didn’t exist. Who’s to say some one won’t propose another law that says we have to go back also and it passes. Wouldn’t put it past our politicians and every rep in the state other than the Acadiana delegation would vote for it. Hence crooked politicians.

We have at least 2 alumni who are worth over $1Billion. If we are to go private, then we need them and other very wealthy supporters to raise the UL Foundation to more than $1 Billion, preferably closer to $2 Billion.

Then cap enrollment and become more selective for under graduate programs. Drastically work to increase graduate and PhD programs.

This ain’t the 1980s. Again, we have more leverage and more clout.

And I’m wearing a black shirt.
