Is our band still a “concert band” and not a “show band?

On another note, I am interested to see Grambling’s band and how they compare to Southern’s band. I won’t be leaving my seat at halftime

Gawd, I hope our band has learned a couple of more "riffs" to play in between plays. That one tune is SO annoying!!!!!

Had the pleasure of watching them put the finishing touches on the revamped Pre-Game show
during band camp two weeks ago. It’s basically the same show, but rewritten for 300, instead of 170! This years band is LOUD—VERY strong brass—you should all notice the difference!
As far as halftime v Grambling—if I heard correctly, first number is “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar. The song for Ragin Jazz wasnt set at the time, and the closer was by Beyonce.

Now as far as that “classical music” jab—WE, at times, played “classical” music on the field in the 1970’s and 80’s, and blew other bands off the field—it’s ALL about the arrangements!

This is Phantom Regiment doing a closer WE did back in 1977–“Pines of The Appian Way,” from “Pines of Rome,” By Respighi.

This. At least someone is giving them a chance and not just downright ridiculing them without even watching them first.

Personally I like traditional music for half time and more modern music used for stand tunes

I have known Zoom Zoom for some time and I think he was being a bit sarcastic, hence the term "millennial racist". But, I will speak for myself. By the current standards of political discourse today, all white males above the age of 50 are considered racist. So while her tweet was funny when she mentioned the differences in the current styles of each school's band, she followed it up by mentioning people in white wigs (She wasn't talking about Booker T. Washington) and remaking the constitution. Clearly she doesn't think much of the current constitution and people wearing white wigs clearly refers to a certain group of people that wrote the constitution. Now does she actually believe what she said, or thought it was funny and it would get laughs from her audience which seems to be mostly African-American from her list of followers, I don't know. But by today's standards of discourse, her hints at race might be considered something more than a joke.

Sometimes people say things that they mean't to be funny and but it doesn't read that way. There are several post in this thread that could be interpreted in another light. But I know them as well and don't believe they mean't it in that manner.
