We are still a National University at Tier 2 (230 - 301 with no ranking) with USN&WR along with ULM, UNO and now LA Tech who is no longer USN&WR Tier 1 now that they have dropped down to Carnegie R3 with ULM. You are correct, nothing to celebrate as we have achieved nothing with USN&WR. Only LA Tech is the loser, if people want to celebrate that. When we hit Carnegie R1 in 2020, we should achieve Tier 1 with USN&WR (likely in 2021 as they are always a year behind).

How the hell did ULM get in the National Colleges ranking? Up until last year they were always in the Regional category.

So far it looks pretty quiet over on the BBBbs site. They have already fully embraced the even more subjective Forbes "rankings" but not a peep about the shunning they received from USNWR.

Yeah, the headline on the school website is "Louisiana Tech makes USNWR National Universities list for eighth straight year" .... no more trying to imply that they are better than everyone else.

So to be clear, they have now regressed in the two most important school rankings: dropped from T1 to T2 in the USNWR, and.....much more important....from R2 to R3 in the Carniege study.

Definitely not a very good trend they got going there.

Depends on your perspective. I think it is a GREAT trend.

    From the article:

"The rankings are based largely on data provided by the universities,"

    In other words. COMPLETE BULL____.

.......time for a check up on La Tur and it’s submitted stats......we exceed them in alumni, enrollment, reasearch, budget, and other areas but ranking, aithough higher in other measurements, still falls short here.....need to see why?

EXACTLY. This is why this has been nothing but horse____e for years. I would love to have an unbiased review of all the 'data' that @Ruston has been feeding them all this time.

I understood that the percentage of alumni giving was a major difference between LaTex and UL. I also understood that LaTex classified a part of the graduation fee as alumni giving in order to increase the percentage reported. Gaming the system.

Who at UL is responsible for providing up to date data to USN&WR? We should be Tier 1 based on previous data that LA Tech submitted that made them Tier 1 before their demotion. While R1 is the designation we desire, why not get Tier 1 as well now? It may be based on a lot of subjective data, but it is what high schools use as university data. We need to understand the criteria and take steps to reach the required levels. It creates perception and dictates in part how we are perceived. So, why not focus on it now as we continue to pursue R1 status?
