That is not how I think a head coach should run a program starving for attention and relevance, but we are all in on the Saban way.
Press conferences are not being canceled but I have heard coaches will be available only 10 times during pre- season camp. This is the third day of practice, I have not seen a report on one yet. I imagine we will hear more when scrimmages are held. I believe one is scheduled for next Saturday which is also Fan Day.

There were about 10-15 people at the media day coverage on Thursday

That scrimmage is closed as well. The first day Coach Napier and players are available is tomorrow afternoon.

It’s becoming quite clear why coaches and reporters don’t care for each other.
You do not get to tell a free press what to say. If you don't wish to talk to the press in the first place, that's your prerogative.

Scrimmage may be closed but they may distribute stats from it and offer comments with their observations. I watched the Roberts interview. Pretty obvious he was a head coach in the past as he is comfortable behind the mic. Main takeaway for me was that freshman may man some corner positions. That is a concern and that issue may be why Jacquet will play both ways. Lots of remarks about him in the interview as they believe he has the physical tools to be an NFL corner. Will the Rob Sale interview be put up on the site at some point.

Oh yeah, he had a good demeanor. He raved about Jacquet a lot. I feel like no matter who has been here at least in my time in Lafayette, the defense hasn’t been the star of the show. Now I do believe that the defensive line is improved but time will tell. My guess is the Sale interview will be up at some point tomorrow.

So they handed all of you scripted questions?

As MAT and others have said, just win and the issue of attention and relevance will take care of itself. Napier's been handed the keys and I think Maggard made the right decision. Until Napier gives us evidence to the contrary, I say it's his shot to call how the pressers are handled.

Oh Don, FFS, give me a break with the free press BS. The man is here to win games.

It's similar to warfare. I'm not interested in hearing specific details on how we're going to defeat the enemy. Just defeat them.
