At least two national groups have CUSA ahead of SBC at this point in time. Doesn't mean the trajectories are the same, but still think they are a better football conference overall, right now.

CUSA has a lot better perception nationally than the Sun Belt. I saw one article yesterday about Alabama's schedule and it complained that it's OOC included a 1AA (The Citadel) and 2 Sun Belt schools (Ark State and UL). Bama also plays Louisville.

Actually, the Alabama athletics website shows Louisiana-Lafayette on their schedule. Our athletic department needs to contact Alabama and get that corrected. With all this is written about Napier and his connection to Saban, I would hate to get all of that exposure as Louisiana-Lafayette as we start the season and approach that game.

    Common misconception.

You don't have to win your conference consistently in order to go to Access Bowls, to be ranked, or to be considered the top of the G5 and next in line for P5 membership.

Since Boise State has been in the MWC, they have 2 outright and 1 shared championship, San Diego State has 2 outright and 1 shared championship, and Fresno State has 1 outright and 1 shared championship.

The AAC has been around for 5 years. UCF has managed to win an outright championship only twice.

Over the last 10 years, the MAC championship has been won by 7 different schools.

Over the last 4 years, stAte has only 1 outright SBC championship. Troy has zero.

Nobody is dominating any G5 conference. Recent past tells us that ANYBODY can have a special year and make it to an Access Bowl or become ranked. There is no magical stepping stone nor mythical ladder to climb through the G5.

What we are doing right now is how it gets done.

While I don't totally disagree with you, I have to point out that by the same rational, in the 17 year SBC conference UL has 0 outright championships and 2 shared championships... one with a 6-5 overall record (2005 Katrina Year). Whether the SBC is the worst or 2nd to worse conference in the country is irrelevant to my point... we aren't consistently competitive amount the bottom of FBS schools. I'm not talking about having a flash year, or making an access bowl, or getting ranked... I'm talking about genuinely and permanently moving this program forward - better conference (not CUSA), more funds, better recruiting, better facilities, etc. I believe that all starts with winning.

Look what happened when Hud got here... he ignited the fan base, got people excited and opened their pocketbooks, all of his Hud-isms... BUT HE WON!!! And everything else is history. Why is Hud gone? You can point to the million opinions of what actually did him in, but in the end, it's because he could no longer win.

I am cautiously optimistic that we have a winner on our hands. I hope Napier can win and if so, I hope he can stick around a while. That my friends is the key to success and moving forward. We shouldn't be comparing ourselves to anyone. Just win baby! Like Hud used to say, "MAKE THEM SAY YOUR NAME." The rest will take care of it self. Just my humble opinion guys. GEAUX CAJUNS!!!!

Pretty sure in head to head competition over the last few years the Belt has won more than they lost against CUSA. That is all the data I need to know who is better.

And I believe the SBC has been higher in the end of year payouts based on performance the last 3 or 4 years as well
