That was a genius move by Lafayette Parish years ago!!!!! The Parish gave up all of the money they had an opportunity to make from Evangeline Downs and instead gave it all to St. Landry Parish. Those that went to the Old Evangeline Downs and now go to the new Evangeline Downs only have to drive an extra few minutes to get to the new location.

A brilliant move by our Parish, just brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A small bump here but I notice Baton Rouge has a Luke Combs concert that is sold out and resale tickets are $400 each on stubhub and the likes. Baton Rouge also has James taylor and Bonnie Rait which is basically a sellout.

Stapleton played in Shreveport less than a year ago to a sold out show. They also have Kane Brown which is basically sold out along with Bob Seager, Pink, and Kiss.

Seems like alot of shows out there that never sniff the Lafayette area.... but they did book the Harlem Globetrotters, Raw and Monster Trucks...

Just looking at the calendar.. there is NOTHING in January. Raw in February. Monster Trucks in March. Nothing in April, May or June.

I’m not excusing our guys, but the Dome doubles as a basketball arena for about a third of the year. That’s not the case with Baton Rouge, or Shreveport.

I've been told by a few people that the Dome doesn't work with many promoters. This is why you don't get very many artist down here.

That is a huge problem in my opinion.

And they promoted from within so it will continue... All sports need to separate from Cajundome box office its awful and stuck in the 80s and cost double the ticket price in fees

    Quick look at the calendar..
Combs is in BR on Saturday Feb 9th.. Cajundome is free 10th through 14th.
James Taylor is in BR on Monday Feb 11th. His only shot would be Feb 12th but still open.
Kane Brown is in Shreveport March 2nd. Dome is open Friday the 1st, Sunday the 3rd and 4th but that is the week of Mardi Gras.
Bob Seager would be open anytime before and after his Sherveport show...

But according to those above.. they just don't want which seems more likely.

Dome (under Davis) would not allow an event unless concessions were open.

Shortsighted for the Dome, shortsighted for Acadiana restaurants and hotels.

Out of curiosity, how does this hurt/help dome utilization? I'm honestly unaware of how they've been able to market the dome for events. Thanks

Many corporate and religious events prefer to brown bag it during the event and go out to eat afterwards.

Some events are 3 and 4 night stays with 3,4,5 thousand in attendance.

Since tax dollars are chipping in at least a half mil to keep the Dome open, events that lend themselves to hotel bookings, and restaurant outings, should be Priority One.

I don’t think it is normal for acts to play back to back shows at arenas that are that close to each other.

Shreveport probably has it a little easier because there are no arenas within 3 hours of it.

My takeaway was, at one point they were available (and the dome was idle) for those dates. Give or take a day.
