    Nice pick up.

Forward Jalen Johnson, who has started regularly since the middle of his freshman season, announced on Twitter on Friday that he is transferring from St. Louis University.

Johnson averaged 9.1 points and was second on the team with 52 3-pointers last season. He started 24 of 33 games and played 27 minutes per game.

Not surprised at this as I was told a few werks ago that we were not going to take a grad transfer this year. Part of reason is they believe the freshman are further along than anticipated. However I also believe We would have taken a guy from Fresno had he committed first. Fresno guy went to UTEP as the former Fresno coach is the new guy at UTEP. Regardless Johnson is also highly thought of. Last Louisiana guy who transferred back home did fairly well. Frank Bartley was the Louisiana player of year in 2018. Maybe Johnson will be the same. More likely to achieve that is Kobe Julien who will redshirt this year due to injury. Julien and Johnson should prevent too big of a drop off after Stroman, Gant, and Marquite leave.

Bio’s are often one year behind. They may have updated those for players who are returning this season to the Billikens. No reason to do so for Johnson.
