Burnt Roux: Dexter Jordan

Saw that Dexter Jordan will be going to Pearl River Juco. Any word on why? Did he not qualify academically?
This was a kid experts thought may go top 15 rounds. Thought he could contribute this season. Built like Todd Lott but much more sound with his defensively . Can also pitch.

He went JuCo so he can remain draft eligible next year. If he came to UL he wouldn’t be eligible until his 3rd year.

But seriously can’t really blame the kid. Pitchers are the ones that get drafted from UL. Three position players were drafted from UL during 2015-2018 drafts. Four position players were taken alone in the 2014 draft. If his goal is get to get drafted, he may have a better chance somewhere else.

So are you saying that we haven’t had good position players over the last 3 years?

Or have they been good in HS and regressed in college?

Because we’ve been told we have top notch recruiting classes brought in by JT but those guys don’t get drafted.

He’s probably referring to the lack of offensive output from our players 2015-2018. No sane person can deny it.

We have one of the best pitching coaches in the country as our head coach for starters and 1/3 of rosters are made up of pitchers. More pitchers get drafted because it takes a lot more pitchers to field a team.

Bottom line is, he was not a fit here. Talent was obviously enticing, but he would have been a clubhouse issue.

Recruiting deals with 17-18 year old kids making a huge life decision. You can’t be surprised when priorities or minds change. That’s why it’s so ridiculous that it’s become as big as it is. This is college sports today.
