Nah
Just throwing things out there and seeing if something actually looks good enough to stick, but I am in the realm of keep it simple stupid!
I'll just leave this here.

Look at how clean that logo looks on his chest. I'd wear that every day, all day.
Check out the helmets. This is strategic.

I’m thinking you are right, they seem to be pushing the FDL more and more. To tell you the truth though, I’m not totally sure I like it. We have been pushing the stacked Ragin Cajuns for so long that is what people know. I mean I live in Iowa City and before that Buffalo, and if I were to wear that red FDL on my chest no one would have a clue what that was for. They would probably ask a question about the Saints. I have been stopped several times while wearing the stacked Ragin Cajuns. I know it’s all about branding, but I just don’t understand why we would start pushing something new when we already have such a recognizable logo. IMO
I do believe the logos that should be pushed the hardest is the FDL, Ragin Cajuns, and of course Louisiana.
If they would of just made the football helmet white with the FDL with the double red strip we would of had the perfect uniform, but black? They were an inch from getting it right .
We are blessed with great school colors....vermilion et blanch!!! Its a good look on athletic uniforms, casual wear et hats. With an occasional use of black/black trim. We did very well here. Still see a few sightings of mustard (seems to be fewer et fewer as time progresses).
My son's future college team colors are not good for casual wear .....brown & gold. Have a hunch my upcoming birthday will include my 1st round of spirit wear. Old school Padres colors. Not quite as hideous as bright 'Im so gay' purple.....so I guess I can be thankful for that.
I've stated this before but pushing the FDL is not new. Spoke to people in administration years ago and that was the way they were headed. Problem was trying to get all the coaches on board. At the time our AD apparently didn't see fit to make everyone get on the same page but I believe that is now changing. So the direction has been there for a while; its the implementation that has been lacking.
Here are some logos used around the country with a single letter for the university. If these kind of logos work for these powerful P5 schools, don't you think it could work for us? Surely, we can come up with something distinctive, simple, and unique to represent Louisiana. Look at the great posters our graphics team come up with every day.
