This is the academic logo currently being used. Any wonder why we see recruits and other people refer to us as Louisiana Lafayette? Our official name is University of Louisiana ... at Lafayette, but "at" is eliminated in the logo.

Here is the proposed revised university logo that includes our official name, but like Texas and Wisconsin (for example), also includes our abbreviated name that we go by (2 versions). If use of LOUISIANA (without "University of") is legal for athletics, it is legal for academics, particularly if we also include the official name below it. Also notice the eNews logo now being used by the university. This revised logo fits perfectly with that.

    This logo includes:

    1. Louisiana
    2. FDL
    3. Our official name
    4. It matches in style the athletics logo for consistency in telling the public who we are.
    5. It also matches what is currently being used for e-News at UL

I think both athletic and academic logo suggestions should be submitted to Dr. Savoie and Dr. Maggard. I would be happy to do that, but those who helped create the logos should be a part of this submission.
We cant get a better rendition of the FDL? That thing screams stock photo.

It is the FDL that UL uses on everything.

Agreed, but this last version by R9221is terrific and very much what we need...especially when you see it next to Texas & Wisconsin! But they are mock-ups, and the real thing would be even better. Good job guys.

ETA: I also would prefer to see "The" before the UL stuff, like both Tx & Ws

    Doesn't make it great.

I know that FDL would look 10x better without the black.

    see my avatar

A smaller version of that FDL is perfection.

I personally like the FDL we currently have, plus it is the one we standardized. We need to keep the same branding. I am with the FDL we currently have

If we change the FDL like the one on that helmet against the white back ground doesn't make it stand out. Start messing with it and find out. I am against changing the FDL it looks just fine.

The big version of that FDL is pretty much the same FDL that is on this logo. All you would have to do is change the white parts to red, and change the red parts to white on this logo, and it is the same.

What are the Louisiana fanbase's favorite uniforms? It's the traditional red/white unis we've been wearing for a couple of years, and it's not even close. No black.

What helmet we have worn that was a huge hit on national TV and was mentioned by other SBC fans as their favorite as well? See my avatar. No black.

Here you go, took your avatar, took the black outline away and put this together.

I have not been against black as an accent color, but have to say that that is the best version so far. The fonts above and below the lines are much better.

I think it looks so much better with the black accents. JMO

Hard to beat the crispness and contrast of red and BLACK

Actually, I see it just the opposite. Black and red tend to bleed together when not viewed up close. The stacked Ragin Cajuns logo (which I hate) often looks like an unreadable blob from the stands or on TV.
