You are wrong on the Ragin Cajun thing about branding recognition and identity. Its the best thing going for us and people across the country ID Louisiana with cajun, because of the cuisine. If you ever watch an Independence bowl Shreveport tries to sell cajun in their add. Bottom line is Cajun sells.
I work in Franklin. Once you get to the Baldwin exit on Hwy 90, you've left Acadiana as we know it.

As for Ragin Cajuns, people identify "Cajuns" with Louisiana. True. They also identify the FDL with Louisiana, and we are talking about logos here. Ragin Cajuns is a terrible logo visually for marketing purposes. I never said we should change the nickname. We do need to change our way of thinking with logos, especially focusing on branding as Louisiana within the state. We'll make mare hay with the FDL.

If only Scott Farmer had signed up with Under Armor these might be our regular uniforms. Same idea as Maryland but would look much better IMO

I think we could definitely get adidas to do something like this. Probably would do it just to show other schools that they could pull it off.

I grew up in Terrebonne Parish and have relatives in LaFourche. I assure you, we have always considered ourselves Cajun.

I know that. I was responding to CajunNation. When your Daddy only spoke French til he started school, kind of hard to consider yourself anything else

If you ask me it is inclusive because Louisiana was first controlled by the French which is represented by the Tri-FDL. Then it was taken over by the Spanish which is what the Castle represents, and then controlled by the French again, and the star represents the Virgin Mary or Catholicism. which the FDL is a very Catholic symbol as well.

Both the Spanish and the French bought the Catholic influence into Louisiana. So if you ask me the Acadiana Flag just doesn't represent Acadiana but it actual represents Louisiana and there influences.

The Acadiana Flag is actually more inclusive.
We are the University of Louisiana. We had an opportunity to be Acadiana University but rejected that. Acadiana is a great region of the state of Louisiana. Recognize where the university is located. However, Acadiana does not represent the state only that region of the state. We can choose to be a regional university or represent the entire state. That decision was made with our name selection. Now, that doesn't mean we can't grow our fan base in the region we are located. It should be our first priority as we later move toward establishing a statewide following. Want to be taken seriously as The University of Louisiana and avoid further confusion as to our identity which we are finally starting to overcome, focus on Louisiana branding, not Acadiana.

I agree on focusing on Louisiana! We are not switching the name of the University with a helmet design. I am also not saying making the switch to these helmets. We talking about one game a year. like a homecoming game.

That's what I was going to say. Never forget when I was a high school student and my dad and I attended a football game between Crowley and Larose-Cut Off. We sat next to some of the Larose fans and my dad was happy as a pig in slop speaking French with those people. IIRC, Larose kicked our butts that night, but my old man sure enjoyed the evening.

Didn't care for the hat at first, but yeah, for one game a year. Sure, why not? Maybe when we host the championship game in Lafayette?
