It’s too busy for a football helmet.

This is what was decided upon by Dr. Maggard. It's the biggest mistake he's made so far.

    That order should be reversed.
Agreed. FDL should be primary logo especially on helmets. If we are intent on using cajuns on the helmet then it needs to be cursive Cajuns.

You change that helmet now and you erasing about 15 yrs of brand ID building and starting from scratch. If we were to get rid of the stacked RC for good then the replacement should be the interlocking UL like on the baseball hats. If you go with the FDL no one outside of Louisiana would see that helmet and know that's the Ragin Cajuns.

I don’t think you’d be erasing anything especially if you’re improving it. And I disagree about no one recognizing the FDL. When we debuted them against Kentucky they were some of the most well received and recognized uniforms in the country when combined with Louisiana on the jersey.

THIS!!! Although my preference is the proper red FDL logo on a white helmet with red stripes. The white, red, white combo would be my favorite uniform pairing.

You're absolutely right about the stacked Ragin Cajuns logo. Too busy for a helmet. It's not even the proper use of the logo. It's funny, if you read through the logo use guidelines, it's mandated that there's to be no stretching or altering of the logos. Yet we ran our own logo through the curve feature of Microsoft WordArt to get it to fit on a helmet. It's awful.

The argument that if the helmet doesn't say "Ragin Cajuns", we won't be identifiable is a bunch of malarkey. The FDL is instantly identifiable as Louisiana. The only other FDL helmet is the Saints and nobody is going to confuse us for the Saints. At the college level, we could own the FDL as an instantly identifiable brand. Simpler is better. If somebody sees a college team wearing that FDL, the first thing they think is.... "must be Louisiana." OWN IT!

These were my favorite. If we are going to use the FDL. This helmet should be it!

I would like to see these as our primary unis. Those would be travel unis, and we should have home unis in red to match, including helmets.

By the way, the coolest thing about those unis was the numbers on the opposite side of the helmets.

Those uniforms were, by far, the best this university ever produced and received rave reviews nationwide after that game. They were even mentioned as a fan favorite by other SBC schools on the SBC board.

For me FDL says French, not Louisiana, but I'm in Louisiana so perhaps the view is tainted from within the hour glass.

I also think everyone outside Louisiana sees FDL/Saints, so perhaps the reflection is blurry.

That's your opinion I think you are wrong. Ragin Cajuns is the most unique mascot in the country. No one sees a FDL and says "that's the ragin cajuns". Most people in the country that sees the FDL instantly think Saints. It is impossible to say you wouldn't be erasing 15 yrs of branding if you change the helmet you've had for 15 yrs. Its just a fact.

And we should leverage that. See how far we have got with the stack "Ragin Cajuns". People hardly wear it 20 miles outside of Lafayette. Most people love wearing the FDL! I think we should run with it.
