Also note that the vast majority of what you posted consist of "symmetrical" letters. An L just doesn't lend itself to standing alone. Well at least not in a good way......

A logo is what you market it to be. If Loser is the first think that comes to your mind, then I can't help you. As Turbine said, how about "Leader". Here is a nice looking logo with an "L". Louisville doesn't mind using an Old English "L" for their logo. We just need to get creative.

I am also attaching a UL logo I created a few years ago and had made into a car window sticker. Using just the "L" with the state outline and a FDL on the state where Lafayette is located could be a great logo for us. No doubting it is Louisiana. We can use it with or without Ragin Cajuns below it. Of course, we would remove the "U" as UL will not be used officially by the university.

I did find a different L that I believe is better. We could use this type of L if you notice the L IS REALLY 2 L'S and we could put a U on top just like we have already and that might be a better option. I know how much everyone is opposed to ULL, I am just saying if someone wanted to challenge us on using the interlocking UL. If you notice on the regular UL logo we already kinda have that already.

This looks good. Clean and neat. The shadow L could legally be construed as meeting the letter of the law, but to the viewer, it is simply "L".

Similarly, the logo I created (see below) also had 2 "Ls". One was clearly Louisiana. The other could be Lafayette. Using the "U" with it would not appear to be legally prohibited because it met the letter of the law. But, to the viewer, it is simply an "L" for Louisiana. If we chose not to use the "U", the L and state shadow with the FDL where Lafayette is on the state would make that logo a clear identifier of who we are.

To me we need to keep it simple, and the simplest way is modify what we already have. the Interlocking UL is the best route because first it is already identifiable to the Ragin Cajun fanbase, and it is a much cleaner and nicer logo to go with. I wouldn't put no State or FDL logo with it just the interlocking UL.

We go with what OU, UH, UCF, etc. or any of the other number of colleges that have interlocking letters. We just need to modify what we already have to fit the letter of the the law.

Then that would be your logo adding a U. The L with a shadow meets the letter of the law without someone thinking it is an LL for Louisiana Lafayette. Want to try creating that UL to see how it looks? Where would you put the FDL, in the same place? Might need to make it a little smaller, but that is your call. I like what you are doing with this.

Does that shadow L qualify as the second L?

I would think so I don’t see why not.

JMO, but I think the U and L should be the same. Where would you put a FDL? Perhaps a small FDL just above the L? Need to distinguished UL as relating to Louisiana.

When I put the FDL it just looks to busy.
