The bottom line is there are a few loopholes available for free or reduced tuition if an athlete wants to attend a private school in LA.
STM offers after school work programs for financial assistance...and there’s plenty of kids who are not athletes that are part of the program...but no one ever wants to acknowledge that when having this discussion...

Where did Holstein come from I've heard Baton Rouge and Texas?

Come on people, surely there is a high school forum that ya'll can argue about those issues. For UL recruits, it does not matter that what elementary school these kids attended.

    Good Grief!

Javon Walker lived one block from Northside before attending STM. His family lived on the Northside of Lafayette.

That's amazing because he lived one block from Northside HS before attending STM.

Both schoools, STM and Teurlings recruit athletes at times. There are always kids that are eligible for assistance especially when a family has a number of children in the Catholic school system but can't afford to pay for all of them to attend.

D'Shaie Landors and Dylan Bossier were at Carencro Middle before Sonny recruited them to Teurlings HS. My son played with both at Teurlings. Kelley was at STM before ending up at Teurlings and Jace Conrad was at STM via Cathedral before ending up at Lafayette HS. We played them in middle school and he played RB, was their best athlete.

Again, I don't get caught up in recruiting now because it's not a major factor in either program's success. And people seem to forget how Barousse recruited Northside's HS school zone while winning at Carencro. He tried to recruit Nick Dugas from Crowley his senior year and Trev Faulk from Lafayette HS.

Just a couple of corrections, Cole Kelly was never at STM. Cole got asked to leave Fatima and went to St Leo Seton for a couple of years, and then TC.

I was not around TC back when Deshay or Dillon went there, but I do have a son who is entering his Jr yr at TC, and I can assure you there haven't been any athletes recruited in the last 3 years. To be honest with the teams they have to compete with in the playoffs it might be time to start.

Thanks, I had thought Cole followed Seth to STM before playing at Teurlings. When it comes to recruiting, I witnessed it first hand at Teurlings under Sonny. But as I stated, "Again, I don't get caught up in recruiting now because it's not a major factor in either program's success."

But there were several other athletes he tried to get to Teurlings including Breaux Bridge LB Lamar Louis when he was kicked out of HS and a few St Martin school board members found out he was transferring to Teurlings, they specifically changed policy to allow him to return to BBHS. I witnessed it first hand. There was nothing illegal about it, Louis was thrown out of Breaux Bridge HS.

Since you keep up with recruiting, that very well may be true. I am just familiar with some controversy about him turning up at STM after being in public school most of his life. As I mentioned, from the discussion I heard on "footnotes" a few years ago, I thought he was at YMS before STM, but I may have misunderstood.

Thomas Perry went to CCS, he did transfer out during his 8th grade year. Thought Kelly was a Fatima kid? Guess not.

I do know he lived close to Northside, because the coaches complained about him going to STM because he was in their zone.
