If you believe that, I don't want one of those players on this year's team. Ultimate competitors don't think this way and would certainly speak up if they knew others on the team felt that way. Those kids play for pride as much as anything else. No way do I think they are playing lousy in that game so the coach will be fired. That's insane.
But they could play depressed and less than 100%. Anyone could.

We had some chemistry issues to be sure but to completely throw away a bad result because of that is just laying blame to something and deflecting away from the players. If the players did what you suggested ( I don't believe they did) which was quit to spite their coach, I'll repeat that I don't want them on my team. If they are willing to do that, what will happen when adversity hits again even if there is new leadership and it will.
I don't doubt that we had chemistry issues on the team but I also don't believe that these athletes chose to get humiliated just so their coach would get fired. There is often more negative from a player perspective, when that happens, than positive since a new staff may come in and decide that any one of those players is not good enough for them and they want them gone or they may clash with a new coach. You see attrition in every program when a new staff is inserted. I just don't think they quit with the thought of having Hud fired.
You have to have strong leadership from the player level to prevent that which we have not had since otha peters.
Getting back to quitting on Hudspeth I talked to 2 local guys both pretty much said they were finished mentality after the GS game and did not go to prep for APP game or even took that game serious.
