Hopefully they are not key players for this year or they have gained some maturity over the past 8 months.

Two things. First, hopefully they are not on the team any longer. Two, if you are a competitor especially on the football field, you don't let your opponent whoop your ___ time and time again and make you look like a fool because you don't like your coach. I'd think that these guys have too much pride to let that happen. Again, did we have chemistry issues and some lacking leadership? I don't doubt that but for you to suggest and state that we lost on purpose and as badly as we did just so they could get Hud fired I think is disrespecting these guys and I don't think they did that. If they did, they are part of the problem.

I don't think the team lost on purpose. They were not motivated well, did not execute, and were outmanned. That is not the same as purposely not giving effort. That almost never happens

I agree. I think it was the end of a hard fought season where our outmanned defense just had no answers. It’s one reason why I am not optimistic for a quick turnaround. We are very thin on the defensive side again and will be asking a lot out of players who have never gotten it done on this level. I also agree that it probably won’t be worse. Minimal improvement should get us bowl eligible.

    At the end ...

    They didn't lose on purpose.

    They lost without purpose.

I agree that last year's team was outmanned against every team that we lost to. Hudspeth had sub-par recruiting classes the last three years he was here and it really showed last year. It'll be evident this year as well unless some of the new recruits can step in and contribute right away.

For the love of all that is holy, slants, crossing routes and TE passes are still legal, right?

Here is the pre-season Poll thread. It would be neat to see who voted for what. I think I was just off the Coastal game, but did feel we'd take both Arky and ULM.

I thought that if everything went perfect....injuries, etc. We could possibly go 8 and 4. Coastal game blew that up. I'm happy we are 7 and 5 with a West Division title and a shot at the SBC title. A very good turnaround in many ways.

This is a good reminder how aweful our defense was last year.... .and as frustrating it was at times this year we very much improved.
