Look at the sustained success that program has had in the past 30 years. Every. Single. Year. In baseball, we built a $18 million palace with one of the most loyal and boisterous fan bases in all of college baseball. You mean to tell me we can't sustain success in those areas? Come on, now.

If you win consistently, dominate your conference in whatever sport it may be; you can set yourself up for sustained success. Boise State has done it, Gonzaga does it, Butler does it, Cal State Fullerton does it, so why can't we? This is the exact problem that I've been talking about. CAN'T CAN'T CAN'T........ We need to stop with this attitude and at least TRY.
Can’t say that. Know your place.

There are some people who fit that description while others are nothing like that. They make their opinions known in other ways, often directly to coaches and administrators.

To be fair, I don't think any of those schools have done it in sports across the board. They have had continued success in one or two sports, but not across the board. I agree that if you're going to spend the money to fund a sport you should do so with the expectation to be competitive and not look at it as a throw-in just to say you have it.

    Again......status quo

"Well, we don't have the resources other schools have, so let's just enjoy the ride. Have a beer and do the Cajun two-step while you're at it."

That's was the mindset of our former University President, and it set our athletic department back 30 years.

Why not do both? The healthier the discussions here, the better for everyone. It’s my approach anyway..

Fair enough, but the root of my argument is getting to the point of changing the way that we think around here. Yes, we are in a poo poo conference. Yes, we live in an impoverished state. But are we just going to throw our hands up and say, "Well, because of the factors in front of us; it was worth a try. We might we well just settle for what we have and roll with that." Absolutely not. There's people that I know who think the current administration is crazy for trying to get us into a bigger conference. For what? I would rather TRY and fall flat on our face and fail than to not try at all.

You gotta start somewhere by TRYING.

    Losers make excuses.
    Leaders make things happen.

Maggard is just getting warmed up.

I don’t think anyone disagrees with that. Improving conference situation is a Very challenging goal in today’s environment. Dr. Maggard told me himself a few months ago he does not see further conference changes anytime soon. However you must do your best to be in the best possible position when the opportunity does occur. Another example of challenging goal is a season ticket target of 14000. That will be extremely difficult to achieve in this economy. I applaud the setting of a stretch goal and won’t fault them if they fall a little short.

Shoot for the stars land in the clouds ... If we shoot for the Big 12 and land in the AAC who would be upset about that.

New football coach with top 5 salary pool in g5
New softball coach with huge bump in salary
    17 million baseball stadium
    Meeting to renovate/rebuild football stadium
All in year 4 of oilfield being down...sounds like we are trying, of course nothing ever happens fast enough for the people who are watching and not actually doing anything.
