If guys coming in will challenge returning starters for playing time, that should improve the squad. I would think that would result in increased expectations for improvement, not less.

It should improve the squad as far as potential, but it's still new guys coming into a new level of baseball. There is no doubt that we will have some good talent coming in, but like this past year, it might take them half of the season to warm up to the competition.

We had starters who could not win a sorority house pillow fight.

I'm pretty sure that most of them would be very competitive in this sport. They won baseball games with no offense, surely they could get some prevailing shots in at the sorority house!!!! Got to at least give them that.

If this was a ‘rebuilding year’, next year will be a new construction from the foundation up. I expect to see major emphasis placed on JUCOs that can impact the team immediately. I expect to see about 6-8 new pitchers throw significant innings.

I will have zero expectations going into the spring next year because we will essentially be fielding a totally new ball club.

So we'll have a lineup of a few new guys who haven't faced D1 pitching. Hooray for another slow start for the first 20-25 games.

At least it won't be 7 of the 9 in the lineup like was the case much of the early part of this year. Also, I would think that players like Tomplet, who went to the JC championship was facing some pitchers that will be D1 pitchers next year. I believe close counts. We will see.

There has to be a hitting approach the team believes in, the whole team. Everybody has to be on the same page, all in 100%, not a few successfully freelancing, like we've had recently.
