This is the first year where the NCAA will seed the top 16 and not just the top 8. Super regional sites are no longer paired by location but instead by actual seeding.

In the past, that would be correct. But the NCAA now recognizes 16 national seeds.

It’s totally reasonable to leave them home. Still a bit surprised though. Had it been the softball selection committee Kentucky may have been in. That’s what the last couple of years have felt like anyway.

IMO, Northeastern does not belong. Glaring problems with that resume. This is also an example where a team's RPI is inflated because they play in the northeast.
