That's a bold statement, would you say it's 100% rock solid? (Now that Metry and his little droogies inside joke is forfeit...whatever will they joke about?)

    Robe - Head Coach
    Bab - Assistant Coach
    TBD - Hitting Coach
    Jace - Assistant Hitting Coach
    Talbot - Life Coach/Water hose
This will allow Robe to focus on coaching, we get a new Hitting coach and Talbot can make sure no Gatorade or Juice boxes are in the club house.

However you can't explain how the same coach has used the same philosophy for 23 years with a lot of success. I can assure you his philosophy hasn't changed. Certainly more people today know about it but it isn't something that started in the past couple of years.

You started this thread and asked for feedback but you can't defend your original hypothesis and have continually tried to come at it from another angle. Feel free to start a thread on our offensive wows if you wish and we would probably have a lot to agree on.

I'm not sure where you are even going with the college recruiting comment. You might want to ask the Ramos, Cantrelle, or Harris kids why they would bother coming to a school where their parents played??

Everyone wants to get to Omaha. It is a rather difficult task. Since the modern field of 64 with SR format was introduced in 1999 only 48 teams have every made it to Omaha. Only four teams outside of the SEC, B12, PAC, or ACC have made it there more than once. Let that fact sink in for a few minutes.... 19 years..... 4 teams. Nobody would like to make that five teams more than our current coaching staff.

The LSU comment was tongue in cheek. I started to use Texas as a better example but LSU baseball is one of the most historically successful programs in the country (so are the Cajuns by the way) and they have disappointed on numerous occasions (just ask their fans). Point being that every program has its ups and downs. You simple can't be at the very top of the game every single year. No one is accomplishing that feat in this day and age.

Its been fun but its time for everyone to move on from this.......we are starting to talk in circles at this stage.
We are, in fact, talking in circles at this point. I don’t mind putting to bed.

Just want to clarify the college recruiting comment. That was solely the fact that we made it to Omaha 18 years ago. No hidden meaning or jab other than amount of time since then.

    Yes I would

Well if that holds up, I would expect it to be after exit interviews and he dust settles.. like 6 weeks or so. Robe must have someone in mind or someone came calling

I think after exit interviews is probably correct.

Saw a post that the NCAA is evaluating whether to allow four paid coaches for baseball and softball and eliminate the "volunteer" assistant coach. I personally think they should leave it up to the school whether to fund or not fund the additional coaching position, but I think it's a good idea either way.

I think what he's saying is not what you should do but what you shouldn't do. I think he's trying to say that you shouldn't continue to defend Robe based on just past experience but rather, what the current state of the program is and what it holds for us in the future. In football or basketball, it seems that the coaches hear a lot more criticism a lot earlier when the team underperforms. Based on this thread, I'm assuming he is getting somewhere to that narrative.

Probably due to the sometimes random outcomes in baseball. I think early overreacting in baseball still happens, but most people have been burned when they took an early negative stance on their team. Look at LSU last year. The lunatic fringe wanted Maneri fired early on and they turned it around and made it to the CWS. This only happens in baseball.
In our case the trend is now irrefutable. We cannot hit and will not win a regional in our current state. Like C90, I believe Robe is the man to turn us around and I fully expect to be in a regional in the next year or two. If we are not, even our Hall of Fame Head Coach will have a hard time justifying the failure due to the huge investment the University made to the program.

To the original premise of this thread... I want BOTH.. a life coach and a baseball coach.... And in an extremely unique set of circumstances we do have BOTH in coach Robe. The man knows baseball and he knows about life.... If I had a stud kid in baseball, I would without a doubt steer him to UL and not because that is where my heart is.

I have mentioned I have a nephew playing for UNO. He was extremely unsuccessful this year and his family is blaming the coaches. So he has nothing for his experience at UNO. His fault? maybe... Coaches fault? maybe... There are many who go through the a&m@br program and come away with nothing... we all hear about their kids in the bigs.... but we don't hear about those who were run off after coming into the program with 5 star credentials...

I want it all and we have it. It is ridiculous to be even contemplating replacing Robe. I have complete confidence he will turn it around. MAT has another of his "insights from people in the know" that changes are coming. I am sure that is the case. Whatever happens we can't get anyone better. VERY few programs can. Bum Phillips once said "He may not be in a class of his own but it don't take long to call the role".

    We should remember that

Todd Lott would disagree, so would Steven Sensley. We systematically neuter our slugging recruits...because Tony can't or won't tell Bab he isn't fit to fill his shoes.
