    A hitting coach change...at a mid major school....is not a major coaching change...sorry...

You mean the tournament that was rained out the entire weekend and pushed games into early morning hours?

When you hit 240 and you are in the bottom 10% of all D1 colleges playing baseball, it might be.

The tournament where season ticket holders had the rights to purchase their tickets prior to the start of the tournament and had no prior knowledge that the rainouts would push games into the wee hours of the morning? Yea, that tournament. Fans didn't purchase their tickets PRIOR to the tournament even beginning. That's eye opening.

I fully expect our football season ticket base to increase dramatically, but suspect butts in the seats will only increase slightly. As has been said the season tickets and suites are where the money is made. Buying a hotdog and beer does not drive the budget.
Trying to get families to walk up and buy tickets to fill a stadium is not the way we become a big time university. Corporate giving is the only way.
Excellent post. I remember the days of driving up to the stadium, pulling my ice chest into the stands and my wife having hamburgers pre-cooked for the kids.

We are no longer ULMish... We have moved to being run like a big time program.

No i don't like all the empty parking spots reserved for big $$$ folks, but thats what the bigger programs do. I live with it because Mr. Big $$$ donor needs to feel special. I get it.

Empty seats? yep because Company A bought 20 season tickets and on a Wednesday night they didn't have any customers or employees capable of making it.

You think tigggger stadium has 11,000 butts in the seats every night? Of course not...

Maggert is turning $$$'s and showing us how to play in the big leagues

I don't think it is quite that Black and White of an issue. Many season ticket holders chose to purchase individual games where our team was playing as opposed to pawning up for the whole tournament. While you would like your season ticket holders to purchase the entire package, considering the circumstances, one could not blame them for just purchasing the games that we were going to play in as that transpired in the tournament.

But if you opted to take that chance, you risked having your seat purchased by someone else.

Considering the circumstances is irrelevant here. There was a deadline for season ticket holders to reserve their seats for the tournament. That deadline was before anyone knew what the weather would hold for that week. It's no different than buying season tickets back in November thinking it won't rain in south Louisiana on a Saturday afternoon. People don't want to risk not having their seats for UL games. So those fans opted to either risk not having their seats or opted to spend their money elsewhere during the tournament. I can't speak for everyone, but I opted to save money and only purchase 50% of the number of season tickets I own in the grandstand because I knew that even for our games, not all of them would be used.

Thats just wrong, and on multiple levels. "Mid-Major" does not really apply here and, more importantly, how we compare to other schools really has noting to do with how our team/Admin communicate with us anyway. To hell with it being national news, they need to do this first and foremost and mainly for the fans. Not very difficult.

yes, good points. And funny enough, I was just reading the other day on the tigger forum how they are upset about the very same parking issues that we are.

Considering the actual attendance during the season, there was not very much of a chance that you could not purchase your seats or one very near to yours on a game by game basis. This tournament would not have all of a sudden created enough interest greater than in the regular season that it was even a remote risk that one could not purchase tickets and sit near where they wanted to sit for the entire tournament. I purchased my 4 but understand fully those that chose to wait and see the outcomes. Weather has absolutely nothing to do with it.
