I can tell you this.. Most of the timeline has absolutely nothing to do with Tony Robichaux.
MAT, seriously, please explain how we can hire a HEAD football coach in 13 days after we fire Hud and how we hire a softball HEAD coach only a few weeks after firing Loteif. I do not buy in to this whole “process” BS to hire an assistant baseball coach. Again, we’re two months into the offseason. At this point, I could care less if there’s an announcement or not. I’m just calling BS on what is being said to be process related.

Are you talking about the 700 at bats?

Well first and foremost, our top 2 targets, which were both in play for a long time, took upper echelon paying jobs. That slowed the process. After that, the hiring process is what it is. I don’t know specifics, as I was told 2 weeks ago to expect an announcement.

But comparing this to head FB coach or SB coach is tough. Obviously Doc was very involved in both of those hired and they were extremely high priority; SB especially because of where we were in the off-season. Just a guess on my part, but I think the timing on Napier just fell into place with the hiring of Herm at Zona St.

That’s the specific one in this instance.

I promise you more than a TON went on behind the scenes with Talbot in the 2017 season. It all turned out to be “poor pitiful me” situation and Robe bit on it. That’s a fact.

I think you mentioned being a business owner, or in management before. If not, I apologize for mixing you up with someone else, but even though the 700 ABs might have been horse _____, what is the man suppose to say? “Hey fans, we suck. No real upside to anyone in that dugout and we’re just going to have to suffer through it until we find some players.”?

I think everyone could see through that. You do what you can to keep your team together and your supporters hopeful. Same thing in business. You’re not going to announce to the warehouse that sales sucks d|ck and their jobs might be on the line. I don’t fault anyone for being positive in speech to benefit the common good of the team/company/family/group.

But again, this isn’t that. They’ve gone out and fixed the issue. The announcement hasn’t been made for a good reason. Sooner or later, we’ll find out why.

Well, I don’t doubt that. I guess it’s a matter of opinion on how you choose to look at the situation. But, knowing Robe, I know exactly how he looked at the situation and that’s why JT got another year.

Again, I wanted the change made 2 years ago, and I posted extensively about it. In fact, I was on an island many times about this guy when I made my mind up in 2016 about his fit here.

“We have to get better. I put more on a coach than I should have and I’m giving him a chance to turn this thing around.”

End of story. This happens, I’m not upset. He fails in 2018 and you can him. Not that hard.

Yea but... we did ‘can’ him.

Glad we are getting a new hitting coach, it needed to be done.

However, I hope they do not go up on our Patio Boxes again.

    Geaux Cajuns!

You may be on to something. He probably does not respect fans that _____ and moan everytime they don’t like something. He has a program to run and your opinion and mine for that matter means nothing to him. His job is to win games, graduate players, provide an avenue for top players to get noticed by MLB, grow attendance and get into post season play. He is doing all those things except for the last one. The last one is being addressed with this new hire.
If you or others do not like the timeline of the moves so be it. Pleasing fans is not his job and frankly is an impossible task. The only coaches who are not hated by some segment of the fan base are the ones who have just been hired. And even those have their detractors. But continue complaining about how our most successful coach runs his program, just don’t expect for everyone of your suggestions to be implemented in the time you see fit. Pleasing you and others here is not his job.

This is funny. This situation is literally the only one I’ve ever been adamantly against Robe. I’ve disagreed on something here or there, but mostly about an in game decision that really has no impact on the big picture. Or maybe someone that has gotten a little longer leash than my liking. I’ve defended against the meltdowns over bullpen, small ball, you name it, for the last decade plus. There are people that are helping pay off that stadium waiting to hear something. I know former players that have voiced concern. We aren’t looking at a roster like we did in 2012 and knew 13 and 14 were going to be good. I have serious doubts about what we have for next year. 3 straight years without postseason is not acceptable and I don’t think anyone would argue that. With radio silence, one can only assume next year will be like the last two.
