I totally agree with you. We are losing 23 wins from last years pitching staff [those who graduated or were drafted] and that's including a 7-0 record from Colton Schmidt and if anyone says they saw that coming is dreaming. No one did. Top that off with a less than impressive sub .700 OPS from 2018 and what's to look forward to ? Well, if we were a high school team with several returning players that we have we'd be ranked in the pre-season top 5 in state !! Unfortunately this isn't high school. Aside from Lahere, Bourgeois, Kasuls, and Cantrell, everything is up for grabs position wise going into 2019. Obviously we will have a catcher as well and obviously that will rest on Monica / McKinnon / Juco guy. Someone will have to play first and we have to have way more offensive output at third base. Nice glove there but I'll take a .270 plus hitter with some pop there that will drive in runs as opposed to a gold glover for now. That has got to improve. Then we have an outfield spot. Hopefully whoever is out there can also provide some offensive punch as another season with less that 30 home runs will not bode well at all. Enter the new hitting coach who many seem to think to be an "up and comer". He'll have his work cut out for him no doubt but my hope is that he lets these kids play relaxed and have fun. That in itself would be a refreshing change and may make a big difference. Lastly, put Todd Lott in the lineup and LEAVE HIM THERE.

I think the middle infield is set with who we have coming back. They are sure handed fielders and you gotta stay strong up the middle. Robe will play the best catcher that has the system down and is not a liability defensively. In my opinion up to 5 spots in our lineup are up for grabs.

our new hitting coach will be working with the catchers and he has produced very good ones everywhere he has been.

Well, football is rolling around and will be here before we all know it. However, the fact we still arguing, debating and discussing this topic should say something about our passion for our baseball team. That being said, i'm ready for the announcement so we can move forward.
