Thread: Status Quo or Changes

Good Grief, it is obvious that there will be a new hitting coach. It is probably that they are going through the hiring bureaucratic BS required before announcing the hire. I think we need to just calm down a little and give this time to play out.

Realistically, hiring an assistant coach for baseball is not a deal where you normally have a lot of publicity on a national basis anyway.

We have a new hitting coach. Everyone on this board should know that by now.

The complaining is because there isn't an announcement fitting the timetable of some.

I'm not buying anything about the fan base freaking out.

As soon as the hire is announced, we go back to looking forward to 2019.

It doesn't matter how many days it's been. It matters that we get this right. From a hire standpoint, from a compliance standpoint, from a legal standpoint, from an HR standpoint.

    We have a hitting coach.

There's literally SEVEN months until the season starts. Who cares when, or even if, a baseball assistant coach hire is publicly announced?

Are some going to not renew season tickets until this is made public? That's pretty stupid considering even if it was made public, I'm guessing that 0% of those people would even know who Jake Wells is.

But if it’s already done, what’s the hold up? Why is there now a posting on the UL website for a baseball assistant? Was Wells hired before this position was posted? If so, that’s a violation of Louisiana statutes. Did we lose another assistant? Let us know Jay.

There is no compliance thing here. Hudspeth was fired December 3 and Napier was announced December 15. I don’t buy those excuses. His assistants were announced daily a couple weeks after.

"We have a hitting coach" ... then the job opening was posted.

Not close in scale or relevance but in a weird way it reminds me of when Authement/UL got sued by the State for refusing to appoint an official Athletic Director.

I would never do such a thing.

Earlier this year Robichaux said he doesn't care what we think*. If he doesn't care what many think, a one-on-one with lil ole me is irrelevance magnified.

    * To be fair he may have meant he didn't care on that specific topic, of which I can't recall.

To be ultra fair my only one-on-one encounter with Robe was when I found an unlabeled picture of the 1944 baseball team, and I presented it to him.

Subsequently he had it included in the media guide. Alvin Dark was in the picture.

That fall Robichaux presented Alvin Dark with a #1 jersey plaque at mid field of a football game.
