Hudspeth fired on December 3, 2017. Napier announced as hire on December 15, 2017.

No need to give the "job posting" excuse when the biggest coaching hire for an athletic department is done in under 2 weeks.

But that still doesn't explain why a new person, who is not officially hired, is "reaching out to the players."

So it is not the length of time taking that is most strange.

For all of the conspiracy theorist, I think you can calm down a bit. I don’t have any information to what is actually going on in this specific case. But in my dealings with other schools I know some schools already know a coach that is getting hired but have to wait for NCAA to officially approve the 4th paid coaching position before they formally change their title. Most likely the case here. Just a guess, but would make sense to me.

Well, I am hardly a conspicary theorist, but what little info we have did not seem to add up. Not sure I totally buy into the NCAA angle, but that seems to make the most sense so far. I guess my question is not so much that the school/coaches could know, but this new person reaching out to students before the announcement, and especically before the NCAA approval, still seems very odd to me.

I wouldn't expect the fourth paid coach to be approved until Feb/Mar of 2019. I don't know if the fans can wait that long for an announcement.

If we are waiting on NCAA approval of 3rd paid assistant coach, we’ll be waiting for a while. Kendal Rogers recent article on state of college baseball expects a vote in April 2019.

Was just a guess, but do know that is a very real thing on the Sam staff right now.

    3/1/19 is the date.

I haven't seen Caleb Black or Blake Schultz play in Texas, but from what I've read about them and the offers they held, they look to be very good as well. I think the HS talent has been at least good the last few classes, but our JC signees have not been great.JMO
Well I might be missing it, but in recent years our high school players have not exactly be all that at the Division one level. Cantrell is the best I recall in the last four years, and it took most of the season for him to finally become the consistent hitter. I'm talking offense, we have had plenty of golden glove candidates. We either are not developing those players, or they were lacking something.

It was a joke dude. Chill !! I was referring to Perrin and Batty who are soft throwing lefties and that's all good and fine. As for Cooke, Stone, Joffrion, Black, and Schultz, I have no clue about these kids but I sure as hell hope they're all studs capable of making a difference. God knows we need it. Gunner can only throw one day a week, Burke hasn't made it through a full season healthy yet, and the guy from TCU hasn't put on a uniform yet so all these new arms are going to be very much needed.

Then the posting of a job opening is a false reason for not announcing the alleged filled position that never was posted? Looks like TalktoMeWillis is getting confused.

His ERA was deceiving his last year because is was over 5.00 past mid season. Yes, they were signed for specific roles and filled them well at times, but they weren't program changing and nowhere close to Carter or Dylan Moore. Those two were deadly at the back end.

If we are going to elevate this program, we must sign better than Bacon and Huval, or develop younger arms to fill those roles. Neither had a ton of offers coming to UL. JMO
We don't develop players at UL. That's way more of an issue than whose going to be hired, fired, or whatever.
