Awful decision. Look around, most D1 teams have their hitting coach as their recruiting coordinator. VERY FEW have two positions. This is obviously a “created” position for whatever pictures that Talbot has of Robe. Stay tuned to see how this turns out. Example: Look at the 2018 freshman class for position players. Most wound up being either cut after fall, cut after spring or sent to JUCO’s. Who has this guy really brought in in 4 years that has been a game changer ? As some of you say, I’ll hang up and listen !!

Cantrelle. Granted he is a legacy recruit so he would likely have come if I was making the offer.

Jake Wells will accomplish great things here.
We will be lucky if we keep him 3 full years.

What makes you so optimistic he will be successful. When I looked at his resume, the thing that impressed me was the improvement the Tech bats made while he was there. Being a 2005 college grad tells me he is in his late 30's. Enough youth to have the energy this job requires.

Also, the folks who doubted a change would be made can relax now. MAT was too certain about this for the status quo to remain.

Yep. Mr. Wells may want to keep those unpacked boxes in his attic and Two Men and a Truck on speed dial if we hit sub two-fitty and fail to make another regional. S$&T’s gonna get real is that happens !! Like a total house cleaning.

If we fail to make a regional in 2019, I GUARANTEE Tony Robichaux will be the coach in 2020. Only thing that would prevent that is if either Coach Robe's health becomes an issue or he decides he wants to hang it up.

Can’t say I’m “happy “ with the hire. I’m certainly thrilled that a change has been made, but I was hoping for a known commodity. This guy has very little track record, so I guess we will see. Definitely wish him the best, and I’ll be at The Tigue to support him and the team, but I was surely looking for a bigger name with proven success.

Agree 100%. No teams stay at the top. Even the elite programs. A needed change was made and hopefully this will put us on another 2-4 year successful run.

As disappointing as this season was, our RPI was higher than Miami, Arizona State, Alabama, Tennessee and literally a couple dozen P5 programs.

Robe conjured every trick in the book with game time smoke and mirrors to end up a decent record.
