No one should ever be named head coach in waiting. That’s the definition of being “comfortable.”

Can’t hurt anyone’s feelings by cutting him loose. The streak continues of not having to fire someone. Leave baseball altogether or take a position somewhere at another program.

I guess we will find out whether the problem is nurture, or nature. If Wells can't make them hitters, then the recruits simply suck.

I think the issue is a mixture of both, mediocre and tulipy recruits getting _____ poor hitting instruction = 287th best OBP.

We have a couple kids lighting it up in summer league, so we’ll see.. I think Mr. Wells is going to be a star. We can discuss why after the announcement is official.

Btw, shout out to the poster who just called me and reminded me that “ahhh those jackasses on Ragin Pagin don’t know _____... rabble rabble rabble” 😂🤣😬

Faceless Buffoon Society.. We’re everywhere.. Operating in the shadows..

So we have our answer to the thread. Change over status quo. Seems like everyone should be happy, but strangely some here are not. I know I am pleased.

College athletics is cyclical. I hope we just bottomed.

Yep. Mr. Wells may want to keep those unpacked boxes in his attic and Two Men and a Truck on speed dial if we hit sub two-fitty and fail to make another regional. S$&T’s gonna get real is that happens !! Like a total house cleaning.

Agree 100%. No teams stay at the top. Even the elite programs. A needed change was made and hopefully this will put us on another 2-4 year successful run.

Most wound up being either cut after fall, cut after spring or sent to JUCO’s. Who has this guy really brought in in 4 years that has been a game changer ? As some of you say, I’ll hang up and listen !!
Cantrelle. Granted he is a legacy recruit so he would likely have come if I was making the offer.

What makes you so optimistic he will be successful. When I looked at his resume, the thing that impressed me was the improvement the Tech bats made while he was there. Being a 2005 college grad tells me he is in his late 30's. Enough youth to have the energy this job requires.

Also, the folks who doubted a change would be made can relax now. MAT was too certain about this for the status quo to remain.

If we fail to make a regional in 2019, I GUARANTEE Tony Robichaux will be the coach in 2020. Only thing that would prevent that is if either Coach Robe's health becomes an issue or he decides he wants to hang it up.
