I'm sure CajunT can pull some names for you.

I'm just telling you what the perception of the staff is of JT's recruiting abilities. They don't necessarily believe in his coaching ability, but said he is great at closing on recruits. I think someone has to come in and have control over who is targeted though.
They signed in fall 2015 a few months after JT got here. Recruiting started YEARS before that. All he did was mail out the paper work.

Everybody is in high school when recruited. Precious little recruiting goes on there. The big exception is the powerhouse high school programs. In this area STM, Teurlings, Barbe, etc., get local college coaches to watch. Even then the number of games college coaches can see are few, due to schedule conflicts. 90% of kids are found and followed via PG lists and events....where pitchers routinely throw 90+.

Look at the CWS team rosters. They are littered with out of state kids, thanks to PG.

JT was hired in the Summer/Fall of 2014.

JT recruited Nick Lee, Hogan Harris, Dylon Poncho, and Todd Lott in addition to having a hand in Handsome Monica. At least that is what Robe told the DA.

Other mentions are Johnny Rizer who plays for TCU and Steven Sensley.

I understand recruiting starts early, but I mentioned him being a good CLOSER. He signed those guys.

JT was also known for being a great recruiter for Texas A&M. He got them at least one Top 10 ranked class (I think 6).

Please point me to the proof that all he did was mail out the paperwork to sign those guys.

And our squad gets a lot of studs off all those powerhouses and perfect game studs. I personally am willing to give these kids a chance with a different approach before i say 4 years worth of guys suck. We don’t really have a choice either..this isn’t mlb free agency.

I was told 2nd hand from someone in the dugout, talent is simply not there. We have seen a combination of mediocre coaching working with mediocre talent. New coaching will help. After that, turning over the roster over time will help. There is no quick fix for a four year slide to hell.

And they are addressing it in the dugout and the coaches box. This program has been here before way before talbot so maybe he isn’t the whole problem. Agree on that, no easy fix and being highly successful isn’t easy or everyone would be.

I was told first hand from someone in the dugout that talent is not as big of a problem as the mental makeup of many of the guys. Too many introverts, not enough alphas or competitive freaks.

But we can always get more talent. I have no problem with that. I definitely think that if JT stays on as recruiting coordinator, the recruits need to be evaluated and signed off on by Robe and whoever the new hitting coach would be.

Edit: Plus if the new hitting coach wants to be very involved in recruiting, he should be higher on the totem pole to make that call.

I agree, if that's what you are saying. Coaching is just part of the problem of any team in the bottom 10% nationally for offense. Some of these players at the plate look like that have no business on any baseball field.

I seriously doubt talbot is 100% in charge of who is targeted and who is signed off on.

"Talent" is a broad word. Yes, more specifically, make-up was mentioned as very lacking. Lot's of tulips around.

Most of the guys not in the first four spots in the order, look completely lost at the plate. Swing at dirt balls. Get set up and blown away appearance after appearance.
