Thread: Status Quo or Changes

It's hard to justify giving more money each year for a product that's getting worse. I love UL baseball but I would have been perfectly happy listen to them score 3 runs a game on the radio from my back patio rather than pay for something I'm not happy about.

That’s it, let’s just run off people who support this program because they realize we can do better.

Fans shouldn’t have to come to Ragin Pagin to get the latest news about coaching replacements.
Since you are such a big time supporter, perhaps you should consult with Robe yourself. He should have no trouble sharing with a big time supporter like yourself exactly what is going on. You can share your knowledgeable criticisms with him as well and have him address them. Maybe you could have Maggard sit in. You obviously don’t care to hear or won’t be convinced by anything that RP posters have to say about the situation.

Thats hard to understand. This is a 3 year downturn in a program that historically been good. Very good at times considering the situation. We have to suck for 8,9,10 years for me to quit on our program. But do what u gotta do

Then when we reach ticket renewal time and no change has been made, don’t renew. I won’t blame you or anyone else for doing so. But for right now, it is July.

Even if JT wasn't being removed from the field, I wouldn't sacrifice my enjoyment of Cajun baseball just to make a point.
MAT, so you’re thrilled with the last 2 seasons ? You’re good with getting embarrassed on your own home field while hosting a conference tournament ? I love college baseball more than anybody but I’m not one for accepting mediocrity either and that’s what this program has been over the past 2 seasons. With that said, as a long time season ticket holder, it’s my right to express an opinion just like it’s yours. I (we / whoever) have been knowing that Jake Wells was the new guy on staff for several weeks now. As I said in a previous post it’s been the worst kept secret in town. In regards to people “threatening” to quit buying season tickets, that’s their feelings as of right now. If you can’t admit that this upcoming season is HUGE for the fanbase then I want what you’re smoking. Whether it’s Talbot, Wells, or Rod Carew as the new hitting coach, it’s time to regroup and get this this going because in my book, as of right now, this baseball program is far from being the almighty in the Sunbelt. In fact, we’re now chasing 3 teams (Coastal, South Al, and Troy). Hopefully this young man (Jake Wells) can bring some energy and fire back into this program. I wish him all the best.

I don’t know how long you’ve been reading this board, but I was one of the first people to espouse my disdain for Talbot. His attitude, people skills and coaching techniques. That was over 2years ago.

I’ve been involved with Cajuns baseball my entire life. A family member was on the coaching staff here. I have friends that have played baseball here. My FIL played for Robe.
I’m qualifying so that you understand where I’m coming from. I have a deeper connection to this program than a lot of folks, and I’ll freely admit that I’m a bit biased on certain things. But I’ve never once made an excuse for bad baseball and I reject any form of mediocrity that might infect this team.

And as much as you think you hate losing... and hate what we’ve seen the last few years.. I can assure.. Triple it, then triple it again, and then you’ll have a mild idea of how much Tony hates it.

With all that said, I couldn’t imagine pulling my baseball tickets and donations right now. The head coach has a track record of fixing problems, winning and building a top baseball program. I’m not walking out on a guy like that.

And btw, as a program, we are “behind” only one school in the SBC, and that’s Coastal. And only because they have a national title.

Sorry, but this is classic bandwagon mentality. These are the folks scrounging for super regional tix when that rolls around. Don't fall in that trap.

Euphemisms shouldn't be used. If JT is drawing a paycheck and providing services to baseball he's not fired. Maybe not even reassigned.

People here want their pound of flesh. Robe isn't about firing anyone, he's about finding solutions. We've had a scoring problem for four years, yet to listen to Robe, and talktomewillis it's not a coaching, or personnel problem.

If robe is a solution finder....then he needs to step down and just do what he has become good at....taking $$$$ from stupid boosters like you!!!!

Coaches bring in the players & coaches coach the players so it's 100% on the coaches

Never seen a real committed Cajun fan intent on blackballing their own program over a demoted assistant coach.....in the off season 7 months prior to season; that literally everyone knows is being replaced for weeks now; whose replacement chosen known for days now after a very discrete search; Whilst several involved in the transition are on preplanned vacations AND and a public release is scheduled within a week.

Deny all you want.....only a troll would behave in this manner.
GeauxLouisiana is not wrong. I like Coach Robe, but he comes off like he is above the fans. Is it too much to ask for a statement regarding the situation to ease some minds? It's not like we're giving chump change to follow his teams.
