However after a 3-year batting average slide, who the hitting coach is (or is not) becomes "major" news and garners major interest.
When Napier was filling out his staff, fans did a minute by minute watch of who his next, next, next ... assistant would be.
Comparatively speaking several of Napier's hires would be less impactful to the FB team than hitting coach is to baseball. Still it didn't prevent widespread "interest" until his staff was full.
At this moment in time, hitting coach at Louisiana is a major hire.
Read it again. Fans stopped caring during the season when this could have been fixed before the season *cough* JT *cough*
Make a change after 2017 for 2018. Our hitting likely doesn't fall into the bottom 10% of D1 programs, we likely win games that we ended up losing in 2018 because of a lack of hitting, fans continue to be interested as we are at least on the right side of the bubble (thanks to a great SOS).
