And after the demo, they turn around and sell those vehicles. In fact, saying “Hey this is coach Napier’s Caddy” probably gets a few thousand extra. The bottom line is, it’s a benefit for both parties in that regard. The lease for the event is NOT beneficial to athletics in any way, and it should be. Without question, every event that takes place on the athletic complex premises should benefit athletics monetarily. Up the lease, implement a royalty program and demand they do everything necessary to accommodate FANS during events. At their cost, since technically, they are displacing fans.

I see you left out a minor detail...car buyer walking across parking lot to get a drink...NOT the same thing as simply parking a far distance...

What they do after UL uses the vehicle has zero bearing on the financial benefit UL received from such a loaner/demo program...UL is still saving tons of money by not having to pay for every single head and assistant coaches and administration type vehicles...

It doesn’t have to though. It’s not an NCAA mandate that coaches should be provided vehicles. It’s a nice little benefit, but compared to the revenue we could be generating for athletics, it’s a drop in the bucket. On that same note, what exactly do the other events that aren’t paying their share do to advance or benefit Cajun athletics?

It may not be a mandate...but if your job description REQUIRES you to travel the nation...you volunteering your personal vehicle for your job?

The more you walk, the better a new car seat feels.

People on here should remember that the car dealerships aren't giving loaners to coaches if there wasn't a financial benefit for them. They aren't having the car show if there wasn't a financial benefit for them.

I'm not saying to rape the car dealers but they're not getting a bad deal now.

The dealers get a financial benefit whether UL coaches are driving them as demos...or they put them on the lot as brand new and they trick everyone into thinking they bought it at invoice price...

With that line of thinking...should UL be worried about people/businesses who buy season tickets and write them off as entertainment?...

You never know. Saban visited UL earlier this year for a major alumni event (I believe) as he has close friends here and Coach Napier used to coach under him. Who knows what arrangement he might be willing to make.

Has Alabama visited any other G5 program since? I don't think so, we got that game because of a several people. Going to neutral sights like the Super Dome or Houston might be our only opportunities to play P5's close to home.
