....One of my favorite happenings, though not knowing much about it, was being the announcer for the Pure Silk WPGA Golf tourney in the Bahamas one year......a lot of the ladies, well the non Orientals, had their college colors and different golf garb with various school memories on their stuff......some very wealthy alumnae and some very nice young ladies!!!
I'm not an opponent of a modern stadium. I'm just trying to rationalize where it will be built and for what real cost. It would require completion before it could be used. Therefore, we'd have to get full funding of a new stadium and property. I'm doubtful about demo'ing Cajun Field. And if we did, where would we play while the new stadium is being built. The debate isn't about how a modern cool stadium would be better. It's the reality of the location, real costs, the schedule and logistics of playing while we build.
I think modernizing Cajun Field is (unfortunately) the most logical approach. But I could be convinced differently (not meaning that "I" have to be convinced). But there's some gaps in the reality of our ability to use and operate Cajun Field while we build this new modern stadium.
I would like to see UL partner with the city and build it between downtown and the future I-49 connector. What a great site that would be passing through downtown.
Imagine closing Jefferson street for a tailgate village on football Saturdays!
The festival could use it to attract major acts that are in New Orleans for the J___ fest.
I can envision an international friendly between the US and France or Belgium.
It would revitalize that area much like BBVA stadium did for that area of Houston.
....Don't know who gets the credit for the stadium ideas but,,,,,,,WOW,,,,,, if we do this high tech covered field changing idea, just think of the possibilities of some outside funding....even Tabasco pepper lights for scoring, Tony Cha sprinkle (fake)from a can of huge seasoning, Free Bud for every win, Franks oil rig .......largest on campus basketball game....new athletic wear provider (yes Polo) as we host our first polo match indoors like!!! Btw do you guys know that polo has to be played only right handed???
