Could the Ragin’ Cajuns be getting a new football stadium?

It's like talking to a brick wall. You are 100% correct, the SEZ was a huge waste of money and now people want to add seats to another area no one wants to sit in. Suites and seats between to 20's generate revenue. I really don't care how it is done, just make it the main focus.

Those suites between the 20's have to be built. Building right there will take a couple of years. NOBODY will be able to sit anywhere on the Home side until construction is done. Logic dictates those people be moved to another area. Thus, the NEZ. Also, some people actually like to sit in the SEZ. The NEZ will have its own set of season ticket holders one day. Finally the less general seating we put in the new Clubhouse/Suite/office complex, the more room there will be for suites and amenities like restaurants, etc.....to generate revenue.

Because the NEZ will cost 10MM and generate 0 additional dollars. Say we take down the upper deck and close the home side for one season. We would only fill up the remaining seats once or twice out of the six home games that season. After the new suites and press box are completed, you would then have two end zone seating areas where no one sits and generates 0 additional dollars.

I have never been to a game where nobody sat in the endzone. Not a single one, even at the end when HUD bottomed out. In all of those games, seats were available on the sideline for every person, yet many chose to sit in the end zone. Your premise is incorrect.

If y’all want more empty seats be my guest. I thought the 10,000+ we currently have are enough. I guess having another 5,000 seats with 500 people in them is not that big of a deal.

When we tear down the upper deck we will lose seats. If we replace it with a pressbox and suites, the endzone seats will not result in a net increase. I do not think we should build more than 40K total seating. (Bowled first level, pressbox with suites). This right sizes the stadium for our needs in the most cost effective manner, and IF and only IF needed in the future, an opposing second level can be built.

Bowling the lower level maintains some minimum seating while pressbox/suite combo is constructed, then replaces the seating lost by tearing down current upper level once complete.

Understood, I just feel a stadium with 10 to 15k seats already unoccupied (some in prime areas) does not more seats in a place that is in lower demand.

So you propose building a 25K seat stadium? (40-15=25).

We have 15K empty seats because our program was in decline and had become an embarrassment due to the actions of the staff and some players. Coupled with God awful scheduling/game timing. Those are all fixable things. If not, what are we doing?

I just don't think you could do that unless you worked on it only outside football season.

Here is a possible plan:

Off season 1, bowl NEZ, tear down upper deck, place temporary pressbox

Off season 2, build pressbox/suite combo.
