    Never said that.

I just don't want to build a 30k soccer stadium that can't be expanded because some people think we can't grow.

    Agree with this 1000%.

When this thread started, I stated that there would not be any local or state support for a tax dedicated for new stadium construction. Now that doesn't mean I would not like to see our athletic program build a new state of the art football stadium. I simply don't believe there will be enough support for another tax at this time in our community.

I have said this a number of times and I will say it again. We will not move forward without corporate money from outside of Lafayette. Most of our major donations have been made by individuals. The task going forward for our new RCAF Fundraisers in addition to Jim Harris, is to find corporate donations outside of Lafayette. And until we do, our athletic growth rate will move along at a snails pace in comparison to a number of other athletic programs we are competing with for relevance.
Right on target with that observation T...

If you can't see that the P5 has essentially shut the door on everyone in a G5 league then I'm sorry, I can't help you. Trying to get into one of those leagues is fruitless.

Instead we should aspire to be the very best that we can be. That doesn't mean build to get into the P5 because that ain't gonna happen. If we build a new stadium then it needs to fit what we can be at our best. I'm sorry to roll you, but our best is averaging about 35000 a game. That's knowing what we can bring to the table.

So why build a giant stadium for the homes of getting Bama, TAMU or the like to come to Lafayette again. Hell they don't even schedule Big name Home & Homes anymore. They play a neutral site game when that happens.

I don't think you guys understand the kind of atmosphere these mid sized soccer fields create even with smaller crowds just by their design. Some of them are horrendous, but others are flat out awesome. I've flown over 4 of the ones in the video below and they are incredible venues. Especially when they are lit up at night like the Lite Center.

No one is saying build an 80K stadium most are saying start at 35-40 with the POSSIBILITY TO EXPAND. We shoot ourselves in the foot if we cant have room to grow

I concede to your wisdom and logic. I say let's really build a huge demand and build a 10,000 max stadium. Imagine the excitement and demand that will generate. Oh and your (and others) point on mind our place and we can never ever schedule a p5 in little ole Lafayette ever again. Except there is this.

That’s exactly what I’m saying!!! Except I dont believe we can double our fan base. If y’all think I want a 25,000 seatvstadium y’all are retarded. But 38,000-40,000 with SRO of another 1500-2000 is feasible and realistic.

10k is as bad of an idea as 50k. I think you have lived in Texas too long. Bigger is not better. cajun4life is absolutely right about future alignments and scheduling. Just think about the Cajundome and how we all wish it was smaller. The trends are staring us in the face, less people are attending games and the sport is losing popularity amongst kids and parents. Thinking small (but high end) is the right way to go.

When have we ever been as successful as USF? They also play in Raymond James Stadium. Which they don’t fill up either.

Worse, it was a Friday night. High school football is more important.
